Buying the eggs and hatching them out on your own takes about a month total, but after you experiment and give it a shot, it really isn't difficult, and is much more cost effective. WowBango posted a good link you should check out. I bought 500 eggs from Coastal Silkworms, along with the chow of...
How many Dermestids would one want for a bin of 250, or perhaps 500 crickets would you say?
Also, try and get crickets from a reputable establishment. Places like Petco and Petsmart, I see workers there not changing gloves or washing hands in between handling bugs and the animals they are...
The screen cage you are keeping your cham in, I would agree with the others, looks very bare. I would say it needs much more foliage as well as more branches so your panther can actually climb around (More horizontal AND vertical branches) while feeling safe and secure. Otherwise he'll try to...
What are you guys' thoughts on what is the best way to find nearby chameleon or reptile owners? I think it would be a great benefit for those who only have one reptile who are wanting to get quality bugs, and for example to buy in bulk and split costs evenly for perhaps 250 or 500 crickets...
I ordered from rainbow mealworms and found that my cham, like many others, love them! My cham doesn't seem to eat much but he never turns down a horn worm. How difficult is it to breed hornworms? Id be very interested in starting. That is, after im done hatching out and feeding silkworms. I've...
so I've never seen this before but after looking it up, it seems that this kind of thing has been observed before. I left my chameleons cage open so he could climb out onto some bamboo sticks and such and he arrived on top of a clothes hamper about 3 feet from the ground.
All of a sudden I...
Interesting... I seemed to think and notice that the roaches always consume the greens and fruit I provide them with, while the +300 crickets won't eat it all. Then again, I may have more roaches than I do crickets. It's hard to keep count.
You're right. I had forgotten about cricket eggs I had collected from mature ones that died off a long time ago. I left the bin in the corner of my room and to my surprise there are many little cricks in the bin! Cool cool
lately when I've been giving more chow to silks I've seen very small, cricket like bugs. Are these crickets? How and why are they appearing in the silkworm bin?
I've read that it's pretty easy to breed superworms assuming you have the beetles. I believe I read that you just keep them in a dark place, probably a warmer place and that's it. I'm sure you could search it as well.
It does weigh in grams yes. I feel like if it is consistent that I probably don't need to spend more and get to the .1 place but something a little more exact might be worth it?
Good afternoon fellow cham owners. This is the scale I picked up at Walmart last night for 20 dollars. Any experience with this? I havnt used it yet, but was wondering if this is good enough or if havig it more precise and read to the tenths place would be better.
Knowing this info, from you, social numb and Jannb, I am now comfortable to take any of these risks, free of all contention. Thanks for your replies!
