Calcium with no phos or d3 during the week. Lately I've started adding a little bee pollen powder to the calcium.
Repashy Calcium Plus LoD on weekends, sometimes I skip a weekend.
I use the ZooMed one that Amanda has pictured, it works well, I think. As Amanda pointed out, placement of the probes is key. I have my temp probe towards the top of the enclosure on the side, where it does not get direct contact with basking light. The humidity prob is placed upside down on the...
The majority of times mine will drink from the mesh as well, his go-to spot is the cage 'ceiling' mesh that gets overspray from the mister in that corner. I've only caught him on a few occasions drinking water drops off of a vine/branch/leaf.
Silkies are a tough sale/giveaway though because of the food requirement. You can't just throw in some veggies or bug burger. Unless they are being fed off quickly.
That would be ideal. I don't know anyone at work that has reptiles, they are all cat, dog, and guinea pig people, I need to start asking around. There's 7000 people total, there has to be some reptile people.
I decided to give silkworm breeding a try (yes, after I said it's not worth it above), I just ordered 250 eggs and 1/2 lb of powder. The plan is to hatch those and feed off what I can, and then let 20-30 or so of them cocoon. Going to attempt different grow-rates out of that 250, keeping some...
I usually use Repashy bug burger for my crickets, hornworms, and dubia roaches. I've given my dubia roach chow to my crickets when I didn't feel like making the bug burger.
I did what @Lennoncham suggested, worked like a charm. But I eventually did away with the dripper entirely due to the constant need to re-fill it and keep it clean. My cham just drinks water off of leaves and the screen from his mist king...
@ajs, how do you keep your BSFL's? I love feeding them off, but their shelf life is so short before they darken up and turn into flies. I know you can keep them at 50-55F to keep them from pupating, but that is not refrigerator temperature, do people use separate refrigerators that are set...
If you get granules, it takes a little work to prep it for dusting purposes. I put it through a manual burr coffee grinder, not realizing how much moisture this stuff holds so it didn't work out well, it went through but it formed like a flakey paste that kind of clogged the grinder. I then put...
If I use aluminum screen (option 1), it will be in combination with hardware mesh on the outside. The chameleon would only be in this during the day, majority of the time while I'm home with him.
A repti-breeze XL should be fine for the life of a panther or veiled. If you need or prefer larger, I'd go with one of the larger dragon strands (clear side?) if you can get one, or a custom build.
I'm torn on what to do. Let me know your thoughts.
1. 3 layers, from inside going out: wooden lattice to prevent losing nails in the screen (I have this on my inside cage) -> metal window screen -> hardware cloth. This would pretty much make it safe to keep him out overnight, but I wouldn't.
2...
By window screen I meant stuff equivalent to what's on my Repti-Breeze. Debating doing both poultry fence and screen though. Worried about a bird not noticing the screen and come barreling down into the cage, aiming for my chameleon.
