Hey guys, just got back from the vet. For the ones that didn't read my initial post, this little guy was sent to me by a breeder and he has MBD. The breeder sent me a healthy cham but I decided I wanted to give him a good home and make sure he has a good life.
She injected him with 10% Calcium...
What a pretty girl you have. That is gular edema. Which is usually caused by over supplementing. I just read and it looks like you're doing good with your dusting but I would cut back on supplements for a week & completely cut out on the additional Vit A and it should go down in time. :) If I'm...
Hi there! This powder is fine but you actually only have to use it twice a month. Also you need to buy the same powder but with no d3 (this you are supposed to use with almost every feeding) and reptile multivitamin powder which you also use twice a month. Hope this helps :)
Hey Lewis, that is a lot of calcium and multivite. You're only supposed to supplement him with those twice a month each. What you need to be giving him 5x a week is the calcium with no d3. Are you using that at all? He might be having effects of being over supplemented with calcium and...
Lewis, if you fill this out we will be able to better help you:
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What...
We are talking about this because we care about the wellbeing of your chameleon. Are you sure your vet is experienced with chameleons? It is obvious the one in the first photo has MBD.
If you did ask your vet, when did you ask? Because when I originally mentioned it to you, you made it seem...
I'm confused, you never said anything was wrong with him. You only posted wondering how big he will get? That first photo of the cham is one with MBD. No doubt. And MBD isn't something that just gets better. It actually does exactly the opposite unless you bring them to the vet. The second...
Ebenezer passed away on the 5th. He was my best buddy. The sweetest cham ever. He hated being in his cage and he would come on adventures with me. He had some eye problems that would come and go and it made it hard for him to aim. Besides that he was always healthy. I would have to hand feed...
I just read both of your tribute threads Jann. I got teared up with Luie, regained myself, and then teared up again with Sid. I am so sorry about your loss. I just lost Ebenezer on the 5th and it was the worst day I've ever experienced. Our boys. :(
I haven't posted many of the little MBD boy. Again I haven't ever owned a cham with MBD -- I just have been on the forums and I know what I need to do to prevent it.. How fast does it progress?? He has a vet appointment on Monday and he's getting his supplements/lighting but I don't know first...
I was really upset when I noticed it. You couldn't really tell from the side but when I saw the inside of his limbs I was shocked. Again the breeder was very sympathetic and told me that he was actually the runt and wasn't supposed to be shipped out. But I'm glad he was! Now he has a better...
I have my cage in a corner with windows on both sides. It hasn't caused any problems but then again, the sight is my backyard so there aren't any cars driving by. Personally I think that might stress him out if there was too much business outside. :)
Hey again everyone.. I've been on and off of here for about 4/5 years. Coming to introduce the two new babies in our family.
Ebenezer my Nosylobe passed away recently and it was so rough. It's crazy how attached you get to these little guys. He was the sweetest cham I've ever seen.
I hated...
