We'll be there
We will be at the San Jose show in 2 weeks (as well as Pomona the weekend after). It's a long drive for us (9 hours?) but was a fun show last year. Anyone else planning on being there?
I agree - good that he got the win, but I remember the story from a few months ago, and to have that many turtles taken (which was supposed to be to protect the turtles) and then that many (most of them) die while in the government's care, I'd be pretty pissed with only $88K. Sounds like a lot...
They're only "majestic" until they dig a hole in the middle of your grass, then they're a pain in the ass!
I don't openly "adopt" them in, and pretty much have never had one just handed to me, but I could probably find a home for them if it happened. Most of the ones you see for adoption are...
LOL... That's our struggle right now! We keep them at 2 places, but we just got 2.5 acres that a lot of it will be moving to soon... Not sure when, but right now we are pretty congested. We juggle them around quite a bit with the seasons. Egg laying needs to be at my house, but they lay in...
Syn - I replaced my entire show tank set again recently, so I have probably 10 of the tanks identical to the ones you got from me before.... Split lid slides out the small end etc. They're 24x12x9" (maybe 8" tall, I don't remember) and they'd be cheap if you can come get them; they're...
I spent the afternoon yesterday getting newer photos of some of our tortoises here.... The pics turned out pretty nice, and most of these are from yesterday. I love these guys!

Well, I'll run it past my wife that I'm going there to spend the weekend with Julie, and I'll let you know what she says ;)
Socially, I'm just a little "over it" nowadays. Call me anti-social or whatever, I just don't have fun enough to go for that reason. I'm a little more of a "bottom line...
Yeah, I didn't want to get dragged to Outback kicking and screaming. LOL, actually I hadn't heard that Chad was going.
Mostly because of a lack of justification in going. It's too difficult logistically to do the show (I could do it, but not at a profit), and I don't expect to have the money...
In my brief attempt at building my own cages, I blew several hundred dollars on materials I haven't touched in the past 2 years... If anyone is inspired to build their own cages, I have lots of black aluminum screen left that is brand new. I have a box of 100' x 24" black screen (unopened) as...
We have a pretty batch of baby elongated tortoises (Indotestudo Elongata) available now. These rare Asian tortoises enjoy high humidity and are rarely produced within the US. We are fortunate enough to have gotten a gorgeous group of them that has apparently adapted quickly to our desert climate...
Correct, this is an annual event, but it's not free. Just PayPal $25 per person to [email protected], and I'll make sure you get Chris's room number. For $100, you can get an all-access pass to Chris himself, and stand next to him all weekend.
Following the chameleon meeting, there is another meeting being held at Chris's hotel room. We'll sit everyone neatly in a half circle, and you can take turns asking him questions with a raised hand.
Sorry, having flashbacks....
Sorry buddy, I think I was taking these early on Saturday morning, and I think your booth was still in a state of chaos at that point. You might have been upset at me for posting those pics! I'll get a pretty one in San Jose, even if I have to snap it at 9:55AM.
The only problem with that...
I'm trying to put together a little animated banner for my site, and don't really have a good animation guy - and it needs to be good (I don't want a cheesy banner).... Anybody here do this kinda thing? Shoot me an e-mail at [email protected]. Thanks!
You are supposed to house them properly and all that, but there's so many definitions of "properly" depending on who you ask.... PetsMart was there (or PetCo, one of them), and I'm sure if you asked them, they'd say they were kept properly, or that they should have been in a glass tank. There...
That's a pretty female leopard tortoise; you've done well with her. I have 3 or 4 extra males in the 9-10" range, but you're right, they're not exactly cheap! Males don't usually get as large as the girls in leopard torts - my biggest male is about 12".
