Thanks! She's doing well, she's been hunting down crickets and dubias really well. Female colors can't compare to your male, but she's cute as a button. I'll get some new pics up eventually.
I agree with carol, my chams are more camera shy inside the cage. That's their territory and the camera is an invader.
Outside the cage, it's just something new to climb on. Lol. I have a few shots of my chams grabbing for the camera.
There were some good logical reasons presented to demonstrate why spiders can be more of a risk than other feeders.
Obviously, every situation is different and everyone makes their own decision. I know you are being a bit playful with your words but please don't dismiss logical reasons as...
Wow! His blue bars are so wide that it looks like he's blue with green bars!
Keep taking pictures, I want to see what happens when his colors come in even more!
Naw, it's just an ambilobe x ambanja. Pretty darn sure it's female. Just concerned over if it has eggs and needs a bin in addition to the possible MBD. Not that it's my cham, I'm just a busybody. :p
We had a pest control guy at the house a few weeks ago, so I thought I'd share what he said about spiders. When it comes to the liquid pesticides normally sprayed on the ground around the inside and outsides of buildings, they work because the insect cleans themselves. Flies, for example...
I wish I had a screened in patio, that would be perfect when the weather is good. It would keep out the predatory birds, and keep the chams from escaping. They were common in NC, but out here in CA I never see them. It's probably because there just aren't nearly as many bugs.
One more thing to take into account. I'm sure it will be a while before I get all the details sorted out and actually start building. Thanks for all the tips ya'll.
I think lava rock would drain much faster than hydroballs. It's extremely porous, and would not hold on to water much at all. Clay would absorb the water and allow it to evaporate slowly.
So the answer is: it depends.
I saw this cham in the pet store, I wish I had gotten a picture. It was bright bright pink and peach, with a little bit of darker stripes. She also appeared fat and lethargic, but no signs of distinct eggs.
With that coloration and size is it possible she is getting ready to lay? Or is...
I'm just getting started with Supers, Crix, and Dubias. I don't have enough to trade just yet, but when I do, I'll be happy to trade for any other feeder. :)
I hear ya about the determined dog thing, mine goes to his crate a lot of the time when we're not supervising. Maybe if I'm not paying attention or if company comes (mine is a spaz when friends come over too) I can close the zoo door if he's not crated. If I already have a barrier along the...
"terminal puppy" I like that description, it fits my dog perfectly too.
I think there's just too many places he could hide in my house so it freaks me out that he could get lost. Plus there's the dog and the kid that would freak him out.
I'm lucky enough to have a spare bedroom, so I'd...
