Omg, the cuteness! I'm still trying to talk hubby into it. He is worried we have so many pets that we can never go on vacation. I keep telling him, that's what the neighbor kids are for!
Besides, if we don't get one, what will we do with all the dubias too large for the chameleons...
Sorry you're going through such a hard time. I hope your cham gets better soon. If you're not already, maybe try offering water more often than usual. That could help flush out any possible toxin. Don't people use pedialyte as well?
You know, I have heard that particular species requires even more attention and care than the chameleon. Hard to believe, I know.
:D Congrats, he's beautiful!
Yay! I finally got my boy to eat some dubias. He has been refusing them since I got him. I was hoping they could be a staple for him since they are so easy to breed.
So now I'm wondering, is it ok for dubias to make up a large part of his diet? Along with crickets and supers, and...
You should consider the saliene rinse if you haven't tried it already. I think for my cham it at least made him more comfortable, and he could see out of that eye better. His issue cleared up after a few days.
At first I was thinking maybe the poor thing had some kind of a seizure disorder, but it looks like maybe his tongue is infected and swollen. I don't know, just a guess.
Let us know what the vet says. It does seem different than what my cham had, except that when I rinsed his eye, a clear layer came off, which made me think there was a possible similarity. I will be curious to hear. It seems that there have been quite a few different eye problems on the forum...
I have been thinking about setting up free ranges, but I have issues to contend with. Mostly my dog. He's a big old love of a pit bull, but I wouldn't trust him for a moment unsupervised with any small animal.
I have this spare bedroom I'm calling "the zoo", and maybe I can set it up so...
My lil girl is about the same size and she's hunting down 1/4 inch crickets no problem. I could have bought a little larger, I think.
He looks awesome. I bet he'll be colorful. Is he from Screameleons?
My lil guy had something sort of similar. His eye first hazed over a bit, looked cloudy. Then it appeared to have a film over the lens. When I rinsed it with saliene really well it cleared up. I had to continue rinsing twice a day for a few days. I think my cham had a vitamin A deficiency.
The best way that I have found so far is to provide a lot of plants. The foliage provides shade, and the soil in the plants also helps to maintain humidity.
