I just received another order from Bruce this week. I've purchased 7 panthers from him over the last year or so and he has always been very easy to talk with, patient and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
I'd take a serious look at the DYI cages. I have the LLL cages and though they are adequate, they lack the extras that the DYI cages appear to have - like door knobs. If I could to do it over, I'd try the DYI cages.
I keep all my males in a 2x2x3 screened enclosure. Have been doing it for years. If you have the room, larger would be great but I think a 2x2x3 would be minimum.
For UVB/a all you will need is the reptisun 5.0 - they are only effective to 12" so make sure your cham has a perch that is within that distance (I have a perch on all my cages that runs parallel to the bulb, 6" away). The bulb you use for heat should be on one side of the cage so your cham can...
The UVB bulb is a bulb that puts out UVB radaion - essential for the development and well-being of the animal. UVB allows the animal to produce Viatamin D which is used for muscle contraction, bone/egg development and more. Bulb types can be either fluorescent tubes or those that screw into...
Dez, to get the dime positioned I simply used some gorilla glue and a short (maybe 1.5") dowel. One end of the dowel was glued to the dime, the other supported with a small ball of playdough. The dowel is hidden by the dime and ball of playdough isn't seen due to flash not reaching it. Used a...
I think its going to be difficult for anyone to answer your question not knowing what what type of chameleon you have, what temps she is subjected to outside as well as inside. However, if you keep her outside all day long, I doubt you will need to purchase any lighting - but more info will get...
This would be the branch the Cham would go to in order to regulate UVB. I am assuming he also has a basking perch and other branches at varying heights throughout the enclosure.
I've always placed my eggs in a conatiner of vermiculite with a 1-1 water to vermiculite ratio (by weight) and placed in a closet where temps were between 72 and 78. Have never had any issues - its worked for the last 20 years.
I'd suggest buying from a breeder here on the forum (see classifieds) before buying from a pet store. That way you'll know exactly what you're getting. Check out the all screen enclosures from DIY and get it set up before you bring him home. Make sure you have proper UV lighting and that the...
I feel your frustraion. I have a Nosy Be thats the same way when it comes to supers. Used to eat everything now wants nothing except the super. Every once in awhile he'll eat a large silk worm or two but no crickets, roaches, hornworms, cicada or katydids. He won't eat much even when he does...
It was time to replace my reptisun 5.0 bulbs this week so I decided to try the Arcadia D3 lights that many have talked about on this forum. After talking with Todd at Light Your Reptiles, I decided to go with the 6.0 type. What is really appealing to me regarding the Arcadia lights is that...
I've heard that silk leaves are glued to the "vine" and as a result can be eaten causing problems. I had some bearded dragons on the porch one day and thats exactly what they did - ate silk leaves from a plant. Luckily they were adults and the leaves were small and I had no issues. I'd stick...
