I was browsing through the forums, and ran across the nice outdoor enclosure by Silverdusk. Now I am thinking about building one for Gary, now that it is nice out. My front porch is very large, and my roof goes over the top of it. Im thinking about enclosing maybe a 5 foot wide area of it, so...
Yeah, I was at a local pet store recently, and they had a 4mo old Veiled, and it was sitting their with it's mouth open. He was pretty green, but his mouth was just open....they didnt have a thermometer in there, so I mentioned to the manager that it was too hot. She just said, "Oh really...
I bought one of those pesticide sprayers from walmart for about $8 for misting. Only takes a couple seconds to douse the whole enclosure, and its 3x2x6. You can always find interesting wood formations if you look for sticks in riverbeds. Of course when you go home, make sure to boil the wood...
Uhhh, yeah.....wayyy too much. Unless that outlet has its own dedicated circuit. In theory your power strips or breaker would trip before anything would happen, but as I have learned in life..."It is better to be safe, than sorry"
Ahhh, you prove a good point vaije....by buying him at PetSmart, they may beleive that it is a popular item, then start ordering more and in turn....killing more.
Soooo, ignore what I wrote earlier....Don't Support PetSmart (also known as "PetSdumb").
As long as the lil guy can't even possibly fit its head through those holes in the screen or anything, I don't see a problem with it. You might just have a cricket infestation if those bugs are not contained in a cup or something.
For a baby, a glass enclosure wouldn't be too bad (although...
All I know is that replacing glass panes are a HUGE hassle and can barely be done right. I would suggest to just buy a tube of silicone ($3) at just coat the bottom about 1/8" or 1/4" thick, then let it dry for a couple days. If it's just used for reptiles & such....and doesn't need to hold...
I found this site to be very useful, and about 99% of everyone here know's what they are talking about....take their advice to heart. Another thing that you may need, as it was not mentioned before...is to buy a hydrometer to keep track of your humidity levels. One last comment is to not go...
Cutting out the sides would be really easy....just drill a 1/2" hole on to represent all 4 corners where the cutout would be....then just take a jigsaw and cut the lines leading from one hole to the other. Simple 'eh?
More pics with the added plants. Now I have 1 ficus, 2 cabella, and a pothos. I decided to add some fake flowers for now until the habiscus become available around here. I just wanted to add some more color.
Now im starting to think that I am adding TOO much foilage to...
Hell, all I know is that mine went straight from the camera, to the computer. I was really impressed how it turned out though. Lord knows I could use that gift card....lol.
Ultraviolet radiation is expressed in microwatt per square centimeter (mW/cm2) and varies tremendously from the poles (low) towards the equator (high). The amount of UVB radiation received on the equator on a clear day at noon is around 270 mW/cm2. However, this high amount of radiation...
lol, I doubt that I will get bored of Gary, as I am facinated by nature. Hell, when I used to be a trucker, there would be times I would sit on a mountain in Colorado, or Arizona, etc....and just watch tree's, birds, snakes, and if I was lucky, even a bear or wolf. I dunno why...but I guess I...
Sure thing....I was about to say....as many enclosures that I have seen on this website, I have never ran across anything that has mentioned the growth of mold. Im not concerned at all, but since I like to watch Gary for hours at a time, I will certainly be able to tell if there is an odd odor...
So because of the adaquite ventalation that a cham needs, mold shouldnt be a problem right? I can see how it can be a problem in a glass aquarium. Besides, I mainly mist the plants and such....and maybe a bit of the coco bedding, but within an hour or so, the coco bedding is dry!
I used silicone to apply coco bedding to the sides (trust me, the only thing that works is 100% silicone!!!!). I am utilizing the shower's drain/plumbing for a drainage system, and the hot water line for a misting system that will soon be built.
Thanks for the compliments, and the hybiscus...
