My male veiled is just a shy eater and will not eat or drink if I am any where near him. Maybe like the others have said he might just need time to get used to you and to associate you with food. If you back off on trying to hand feed him he might come around.
Cool thanks. Yeah I am only putting in left over veggies, fruit, and bread scraps. I am just amazed at how many larva are in there after only a week ... just seemed like a shame to let them go to waste especially if my chams will eat them. I now am wondering if there is a way for me to house...
Ok so I am in the process of making a Black Soldier Fly compost bucket. My question is do you think it is ok to feed off the regular fly larva? I know that normally wild caught flies are not a good thing to feed because of the chance of parasites but the larva are eating non meat, non fecal...
Yes it happens. Depending on how close the light is to the plant and depending on how much heat the light gives off. Not sure if having water on the leave would acutally help or hender the burn to be honest.
Veiled chams if they are a male have the spur from birth. My little guy is actually about 8 months old. He is very small for his age due to a mishap when I moved him into his big boy cage. He was not able to find his food and did not under go the huge growth spurts that you normally see happen...

From reading these boards I have seen that some like play sand and others prefer the organic soil so I made a mixture of both and keep it moist enough that it she is able to tunnel. It is opaque. I have seen her a few times walking around in it but I think I need to place some kind of visiual...
Mine love them
I have a male and female Veiled and they both love them. I use them as their main food source. My fatty female loves them more than crickets.
Yes I have at the bottom of the cage at the base of one of the plants an egg laying bin that is aprox 12" long x 6" wide x 12" deep. Please advise if this is sufficant.
Thank you
Thank you both for the replys. I am just really concerned for her and do not want her to be come egg bound. I will leave the bin in full time then.
