Due to an upcoming move I am in need of a good home for my male veiled, Moe. I am in no real hurry to place him but it would be nice to get him into a knowledgable home by the time the temperature's drop to around 65 degrees at night (when I bring him inside for the rest of fall and the winter)...
That's what I figured but thought it was worth asking. I read different opinions for safe night time temperatures any way (ranging from 40's to low 60's) and I don't want to risk his health. Thanks for the replies.
It's a beautiful day here today so I moved Moe's enclosure outside so he can get some natural rays. It's supposed to be in the 70's again tomorrow and I would like him to be outside for that as well. I'm contemplating leaving his enclosure outside tonight but it's supposed to get down to the low...
You are the one person that I figured might be able to answer and I thank you for your reply. Really, I was just curious. I figured he is growing right and he is healthy and active. I have never got him weighed nor have I got him checked for parasites. He has never caused me to have any concern...
I got Moe last year in February and I was estimating him at 2 months. So, if that is correct, that would put him just over a year now. Measuring him, he measures approximately 8 inches snout to vent and add tail he measures approximately a total of 16 inches (it's hard to be accurate with a...
I went ahead and showered him for 30-35 minutes. Is that maybe too long? He was just relaxing on his plant anyway. He has been very friendly (more so than usual) this morning anyway. I tried to feed him a few hornworms this morning. He ate one and then went straight for my hand, climbed on...
I put Moe in the shower five minutes ago. He is starting to shed again and since he had a hard time last time he shed, I thought I would help him out from the very beginning with a nice shower (especially since the heat is on in the house and therefore the air is already dryer than normal). My...
I have a RainDome for my chams enclosure and I love it. It works great and no holes needing to be cut out of the enclosure is a plus. My cham likes it as well. He will now sit under it while it's running and drink to his delight. I think it's a great purchase.
His humidity gage in the cage reads an average of 60%, though it can drop in the 50% range at times and climb as high as 90% when the RainDome is on for a long period of time. Is 60% still too low?
Just to update. The shower seemed to help. The skin around his eyes are now gone with a little extra rubbing after the shower and most of what was on his head is also gone. There are still parts on his body there but not as much and he seems a bit more relaxed and not so miserable. I have...
Well, if anything, the shower perked him up a bit. He isn't the dull coloration anymore which is good. Hopefully he will rub on the willow some more and it will help. If not, I'll see what they may have at PetSmart when I get a chance.
Yeah, that's the plan. I just let him come out of the cage and get on his willow tree if he wanted. I opened the cage door and left it up to him. He is now on his willow tree rubbing his face all over the branches. Maybe he wanted/needed another option to rub on? It doesn't seem to be coming off...
The first picture makes his front leg look funky but it is just the angle or something. There are no issues there and his limbs seem all nice and straight.
Moe has been shedding for at least four days now. It seems to be taking a lot longer than usual and he seems to be having difficulty getting the dead skin off of him. I have misted him to try and help and I believe I'll be giving him a shower today hoping that will help. Is there anything else...
I know most people frown on the use of the red heat lamp but I use one with my veiled. He has had it since the first day I got it and sleeps like a rock with it. When the weather got cold and before we started up the heater in the house he would be up under it in the morning before his day...
I don't know what it is about hornworms but my cham does the same thing. It doesn't seem to matter how big the worm is, all he wants is to devour it. They are chameleon crack!
Like I said, he is not a permanent free ranger, nor will he be for his safety. I enjoy letting him out though when the other critters are outside so that he can be out of the enclosure for a while. He loves it, he comes straight out of the cage and straight on his tree. USUALLY content on just...
