    tongue is acting weird

The brands I believe are Rep-cal. The crickets feed on apples and potatoes. Just started maybe a few days ago all of a sudden. So far only when feeding is in quick succession. I will try to space them out and see if that makes a difference.

    Attempting to socialize my cham

He will readily eat out of my hand, but anytime my hand gets close with the intent to get him to crawl onto me, he gapes and hisses. I even tried today to trick him onto my hand with a treat. Is this just an adolescent thing? Seems to be very moody lately. Any help is appreciated.

    Just wondering. Chameleon bites

The first cham I had was basically blind in both eyes with the tumor growths (some may remember Kiwi who developed squamous cell carcinoma). I had to hand feed her close to her mouth since she would not shoot her tongue out very far. Well needless to say she stretched out a couple times and...

    Patience pays off

I have had Pascal, a male veiled chameleon approx. 4-6 months old, for almost two weeks now. During which I have never been able to hold him as I don't want to just reach and grab him out. So I have been patient and am trying to get him to hand feed to build the trust between us. Today I was...

How much should a juvenile male veiled be eating

Not sure on the age, the lady we got him from was not sure. I am uploading a current picture of him right now. Maybe you can tell from the picture how he looks and approximate an age.

How much should a juvenile male veiled be eating

Yesterday my male veiled only ate on mealworm when a few were available as well as a cricket. I'm afraid of him not eating enough and worry he may be too thin. Does he need to eat every day? And how much should he be eating? Another question I have is whether or not it is normal to see ribs...

    Rookie chameleon owner

I noticed with the baby veiled at the pet store I worked at that when it was kept in an enclosure with only two screened sides, that it kept a lot of heat and the Cham was overheated and thus spent a lot of time at the bottom of the cage. All screen enclosures are definitely the best.

    How to offer worms

I never thought to use tongs. I also keep and have worked with snakes and using tongs were sometimes the best method for getting the mouse/rat in the enclosure.

    How to offer worms

Well I laid the wax worm on a leaf next to him, and he took it in a matter of seconds. The second worm he waited a while till he took it. Thanks for the help everyone.

    How to offer worms

Right now pascal is eating crickets. Got some meal worms and wax worms for the occasional treat. I tried putting them on a small plate at the bottom of the enclosure, but he didn't go for them. Could it be he was not hungry? And is there a better way to offer worms to a veiled?

    Just a few clarifications

So I've gotten my second chameleon now (I only had the first for a week or two since I took it home from the pet shop I work at when it developed cancer). He is a beautiful male veiled, I would guess over a year old. I want to make sure I do everything right so I had a few questions. 1. Is a...

Need advice! Veiled with eyelid growths

I regret to inform everyone that we decided to put Kiwi down. The vet noticed that the cancer growths were growing a fairly quick pace. I couldn't imagine that being comfortable and yet it was still a difficult decision. I want to thank everyone for their advice throughout this ordeal. I will...

Need advice! Veiled with eyelid growths

I also have another question pertaining to the nutrition for chameleons. If I am gut-loading crickets (as in that is the only food crickets get), is that enough for the chameleon? Or should I include dusting a few times a month? We still have not heard what the vet wants to do, he is still...

Need advice! Veiled with eyelid growths

Bad news y'all, vet found out the results today. They found squamous cell carcinoma which is a form of cancer. He is consulting with reptile specialists to find out if there is any treatment they recommend. Unfortunately it is something that is treatable but not completely curable. The only...

Need advice! Veiled with eyelid growths

Nothing final yet. Still waiting on lab results. She doesn't gape at me ever; well she did once but that was it. I have been using a credit card and gently opening her mouth to give her the antibiotics, so decided to use the same technique and after opening the mouth I take a cricket and as I...

Need advice! Veiled with eyelid growths

Anyone know how to get a chameleon that can't see to eat? Her eye has a scab over it, been putting cream on it and it shouldn't last too much longer. Problem is she can't see to eat the crickets. Is there a trick I can do?
