Those are defiantly bites from your cham. I have 2 females and 1 eats the leaves from her plant consistently. The other one bites a leaf from time to time, but in both cases, the leaves from the plant look like your picture.
I have a bin with schefflera at all times in my two girls cages. The mixture is play sand and organic soil. More soil than sand to keep the plant alive. The bin is 17x14x15. The mixture is damp, but not overly so. It is perfect for them to tunnel and lay. Your girl needs privacy too. The first...
I was accidentally bit by one of my female veiled chameleons. I was hand feeding her a hornworm, her tongue shot out but the worm would not let go of my finger! I moved my hand closer to her to let her retract the tongue and she clamped down on the end of my index finger. Scared the crap out of...
I would not know about too high. Depending on the time of year here in Texas, the night humidity is 40 to 80 percent. I have schefflera arboricola in both of my cages. The girls like to munch on the leaves. Live plants are a must for keeping the humidity up. Be glad you have a boy and do not...
The humidity levels in my 2 cages also drop to 40 percent during the day when the lights are on. After misting it rises to 70-80 percent for a while. In my opinion, as long as you mist everyday, your boy should be ok. I have had my girls for over 2 years with no problems.....
For my setups, I poked holes in the corners at the top of the cage and about 1/2" down the vines. I use plastic zip ties to keep them attached to the top. When its time to clean, I just cut the zip ties, and use new ones when reattaching the vines. I also bought side holders from DragonStrand...
Hello all!
I feed my veiled mostly crickets (dusted of course) I have also bought hornworms, waxworms, superworms, and butterworms in the past.
Recently I purchased 100 dubai roaches. My girls cannot resist them! They love them!
My question is, how many a day would be enough? They can...
Hello, My two girls were also purchased from Petco. The lady sold me on a small glass terrarium and said the two could live together indefinitely! After having the girls for about a week and looking up ACTUAL facts about veileds, I started buying the correct cages and setups for the...
Sharing a funny story. Bought a cup of hornworms last week. They grow fast! I was hand feeding my two year old female veiled chameleon a worm on the end of my index finger. Well, the worm stuck to my hand tight. When she shot out her tongue to get it, the bug did not move! It had a super grip on...
You might try moving the lay bin to the other side of the enclosure and temporally block the view with a sheet. She will not see anything and may feel safe to lay. Just a thought. Worked with one of my females who would not lay.
Yeah, they are both over two now so I know the signs  I recently repotted the Schefflera for the coming egg lay. The two females are about 1-2 months apart in laying eggs.
If you look close at the third picture, you will see a black corrugated wood piece. It is lightweight and is split near the top for my dragon strand side holders. They do not see each other.
I had the same problem two years ago. Make sure the soil is moist so she can dig a tunnel without it collapsing. I had to wrap a sheet around three sides of the enclosure to give her privacy. She dug a couple of test holes, then finally laid her eggs. I think it was about 2 weeks after I took...
Hello. Questioning the experts here. I have 2 female veiled chameleons. I have had both for over 2 years now and I have only used the Exoterra Repti-glo 5.0 compact fluorescent tropical lightbulbs for UVB. I have never had a problem with them and replace them every 6 months.
