On way to Boston now. More black on her. Eyes still good and movement is fine. Fingers crossed she’ll be alright. Will keep everyone posted

So they have the ability to properly house her overnight? If there is no specialist there this would be a concern for me.Doing her consult now. Couldn’t be more annoyed. They don’t have a specialist and will have to consult with one over the phone, and possibly keep her overnight. When I called they said they may or may not have a specialist here for her, and now I find out they won’t until tomorrow. Makes no sense why it’s an ER if there’s no one here for her.
I will ask them that, for sure. They said to keep them overnight it’s $500-1500 so they better. Maybe because its a holiday the specialist isn’t in, but said they will be tomorrow. Will keep you updated after I hear back from the consultSo they have the ability to properly house her overnight? If there is no specialist there this would be a concern for me.
See ask to see where they would be keeping her. A cham is not like a bearded dragon. Putting them where they are not suited is going to stress her out. And it sounds like the people that are there do not have experience with chams if they are calling for feedback. And I am sorry but 500-1500 is expensive bs and if they have to do surgery that is not cheap. I almost feel like it would be better to have an appointment for tomorrow morning with the actual "specialist" And go back with her rather then leave her there. Also find out how many times this "specialist" has done this surgery on a chameleon.I will ask them that, for sure. They said to keep them overnight it’s $500-1500 so they better. Okay I will ask all these questions. I have asked to make an appointment but they said since it’s an eggbound cham I have to come through emergency, and can’t make an appointment. I’m very frustrated because that’s what I did today and they weren’t here. I’m very shocked that this is the place in Boston and they’re handling it this way. I knew the surgery would be a lot but all these are adding up. Will keep you postedSee ask to see where they would be keeping her. A cham is not like a bearded dragon. I’m just worried because I can’t get out of work tomorrow, so I wouldn’t be able to get back here until around 4. I’ll have to ask them about their housing as well as when the doctor will be here. Just currently stressing out in the waiting roomI agree with @Beman. If they aren’t able to house her correctly it’s definitely not worth leaving her there. I’d almost say even if they can house her correctly it’s not worth it. 500-1500?!! that’s just absurd.
If I do take her home, do you think I should try the trashcan method for tonight and let her sleep there until tomorrow when I could bring her back? It was really tough getting her out of the enclosure today with all the branches / hiding spotsI’m just worried because I can’t get out of work tomorrow, so I wouldn’t be able to get back here until around 4. Yes, I do. It makes it so the only real option is to dig. Ask @Chase about it though. I have not had a female so I really do not know the process on this. But if she is not weak yet then there may be a chance she lays them.If I do take her home, do you think I should try the trashcan method for tonight and let her sleep there until tomorrow when I could bring her back? I would try to call out of work. This is an emergency with your pet. Literally life or death.
Thank you for this. Can I pm you?My problem with emergency vets is (in my experience) that they pull at your heart strings and play with your wallet.
Honestly I’d go home and set up a trash can. If they’re not going to do anything with your girl until tomorrow you’re just giving them money for nothing (because at this point a proper set up would include a lay bin and I DOUBT they have one set up ready to go).
If you’re still there, I’d inquire about another dose of oxytocin. I’ve read on the forums about females requiring more than one dose.
If you do go home with her, I’ll walk you through setting up a trash can for her.

Okay just wanted to put this in the thread:Sure thing
Okay just wanted to put this in the thread:
they called the specialist on call and sent them pictures of her as well as all her info and previous vet. They said they did a follicle / egg x Ray and the specialist said that she’s not ready to lay yet, and what she laid before were follicle eggs (or like not fully Matured eggs). They said since she’s still eating that’s good and she’s still active which is good. I asked about the blackness and they said it’s stress and probably pain. I asked if I should just put her back in her normal enclosure and they said yes, and when she’s ready she should lay. To also increase the temp to make the heat more accurate
I bought a probe one yesterday!I’d like to see the scans if you get a copy.
here is a link to a thermometer that’s on sale at petsmart. I’m sure there will be one on your way home.
