3rd time egg laying

Have you fed her butterworms before? Some chams have allergic reactions to them, so if this will be her first time, I’d go for hornworms or silkworms or roaches for the injections instead.
So she’s never had a hornworm before.. should I try to cut off the horn so it doesn’t injure her? They don’t have live silk worms

The horn will not hurt her. But these need to be smaller in size and you want to hand feed them because they suction cup to branches etc and it can cause tongue injuries when they hit it and it does not let go of the surface.

@Beman thank you both. Just injected the horn worm and she ate it. Hopefully this helps her. Putting all the covers back on the enclosure and I’ll check on her in a few hours 💚
Okay so her basking spot isn’t high enough. Only 72. Should I add another lightbulb to the fixture? I changed it not too long ago so not sure why it’s not as warm? I also just increased the temp in the room as well

Sorry one more question. She needs calcium every 12 hours, I gave her the hornworm with it at noon but in 12 hours she’ll be asleep. Should I give her another hornworm with it tomrorow morning so I can give the second dose right before she goes to bed? And can I keep using hornworms or should I use another feeder? Not sure how many hornworms they can have.. I could call around to try to find silkworms

@Beman @Chase what do you think?

Only problem with right before bed when you give it in a feeder is they are bedding down and not getting heat to digest. Not sure how to make 12 hours work. Almost seems better to do it once a day in the morning so she has the day to digest. But I am not a Vet. This just does not make sense to me for a chameleon though.

Have you tried the trash can method since they gave her the shot?

I agree, the 12 hour seems tough. I gave her another hornworm this morning with it in there. I have not tried the trash can method, with her yet.
At 5pm today (it’s 1 now) it’ll have been 48 hours and that’s when they recommend I go to Boston to see about surgery. She usually sleeps around 7:30, so should I try and take her tonight or should I go tomorrow morning?

I’d try the trash can method now and see if it gets her to lay the eggs. I’d also call the vet and see what they think about waiting until tomorrow

I don’t have any of the materials for the trash can, she would only be in there for a few hours before her lights go off, Should I do it with her lay bin she has now?

I’ll call the vet now

edit: ok so the vet she went to isn’t open on weekends so they didn’t answer.

she’s just basking now. I’m going to leave her and not disturb her tonight, and take her to Boston tomorrow morning for an emergency visit. I hope I’m making the best decisions, it’s so tough.
