acne tips?

i have to take a pill once a day too, but i meant the cycles were once a month/now every 3 months :p

Ah ok nevermind! I'm so jealous of the people that get the once a month shot or something like that and don't have to worry about it. I'm horrible at routine! lol

i used to use accutain but the side effects got so bad i had to stop. while it did take my acne away, it made my skin so dry that when i talked or moved my face it would hurt and split my skin around my mouth. My friend used the generic kind and said he had no side effect whatsoever. my acne is coming back now tho, im just gonna wait it out for now and hope it gets better :/

I also suffered badly as a teen, but there wren't many treatments available 20 years ago. It seem to be hereditary too as my son has been suffering also. We tried so many pills and potions from the chemist and the doctor, before finally he was referred to a dermatologist back in the summer. He was prescribed Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) which now seems to be working. Although the side effects can be quite bad (nightmares was the one he feared the most due to starting his first job and needing a good night's sleep) but the dose is worked out according to the patient's weigh to limit the side effects as far as possible. He was told that his acne would be all but gone in 3 months, but where he was on the borderline between doses, he had to have the dose increased and this now seems better and we are seeing a real improvement! The only side effect he has noticed is his lips tend to be very dry and crack easily when eating or even talking. With girls, they tend to be put on the contraceptive pill (like I was) but this just isn't an option for boys.

im 17 going on 18 and a virgin :p maybe that explains things! haha. and my deit is pretty healthy. i never drink soda, i eat veggies with every meal cept breakfast, i cant keep down fast food or super greasy food, my body just isnt used to it, so i choose not to eat it...stuff like that. a weakness of mine is i usually dont have enough time to drink water, and im a coffee addict XD

Good for you, except the no water/but coffe drinking.

soo, ive been using noxema and it seems to have worked a little, exept for the intense breakout i had lastweek -.- and i also tanned for the first time yesterday at the gym i have a membership at. was supposed to be in for 5 minutes, think the lady set the machine for ten, and my face is now burnt -.- which will help in the long run i suppose, but it hurts and i look rediculous right now...

sometimes different creams and lotions intensify the result of the "Sun"

Read your labels since you are trying different methods

This thread is freaking hilarious. Do you take a multivitamin? Perhaps you need to dust your sandwiches with some reptivite or, wait, which one has the preformed vitamin A?

No seriously though a simple cheap multivite might help.

i've never had acne but my boyfriend and sister sufferd from it pritty bad. boyfriend is working on it and sis has perfect skin :) they used proactive but it also had to do with thier age. bith has perfect skin before and after they "grewup" you shouldnt feel bad because of this though. in compleate honesty i dont notice anyone with this sort of problem and two of the prittyist girls in my school have acne. :) ask your parents for 90 days of proactive of xmas if it bothers you alot; if you parents dont mind birth controls can also be gr8 for your skin and other things like keeping you on time(less stress)

oh and these are all the pills i take + i only use aloe vera for lotion. - one a days(for woman) fish oil, hair and nail, BC.

i noticed my skin is glowery from a year ago when i didnt take pills. drink lots of water ^^!

oh someone already posted that :D:p im OCD with my pills. i organize them everynight along with my clothes and make in order to what i do first. lol :D

oh and someone said towels everynight. i do that too, idk if any of the things i've done help acne tho but they help my boyfriend so if i were ud i try it ^^

how can you not have time to drink water?

im constantly on the move, either working, at the barn, school (which we're not allowed to bring our own water bottles, and the ones there cost around $2) and i got mono from a water fountain there...so i usually drink one cup of coffee in the morning, one after school, and a cup of water before bed, thats it :/

hmm...out of curiousity...are reptile vitamins safe for people?? :D haha...i wont try them...promise.

Hey Amanda,

I had terrible back acne when I was in highschool, and I tried everything, even 'snail gel' which is snail slime and is very healing. I tried emu oil, proactiv, lots of stuff.

I tried accutane when I was 19, and man does that F**** with your mind, emotional stability, and thinking. It helped, but was only a temprorary (18 month) cure.

So then I got older and wiser, and after the accutane I got really interested in natural healing and diet.

First of all, no one should be eating wheat or drinking dairy products. That is what I eliminated first. The wheat especially for me. To this day I avoid as much wheat as I can (cereals, breads, pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, wraps - you'd be surprised how much of this 'peasant food' is in the average diet). Dairy doesn't bother me as much, so I enjoy organic yogurt and organic cheese and the occasional organic milk all from a local farm....but I avoid everything else commercial-grade dairy.

Here is what cured me:

Psyllium husk - about 1 tbsp per day, or two teaspoons throughout the day, mixed with juice or soy milk or even better coconut milk.

Coconut milk and coconut oil - extra virgin, cold pressed coconut oil is one of the best things you can take for your health. It is the best kind of fat you can get, and before corporatism and the corn & soy industry came into being, coconut oil is what most people used to use for oil, along with animal fat. I usually put a tablespoon into a shot glass, mix with some honey or agave nectar, and shoot it back. The agave or honey makes it pleasent - on its own it's a strange texture and flavor lol.

Omega complex supplements - get KRILL OIL if you can. Otherwise, try Norweigan cold water fish oil. Get the 3-6-9 complex, not just omega3.

For your skin in the shower - try Oxy bodywash with 10% benzoyl peroxide.,

like this http://www.amazon.com/Oxy-Maximum-Daily-Face-Fl-Ounce/dp/B001ET6XNO

And exfoliate with SALYCYLIC ACID: like this: http://www.amazon.com/Ives-Apricot-Blemish-Blackhead-Control/dp/B000AA9HGS

And you want to moisturize with Alpha Hydroxy Acid (at least 10% otherwise it is not effective): http://www.amazon.com/Alpha-Hydrox-...sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1323995589&sr=1-1

You also want to be eating foods that replenish your cells, like seaweed (different types), quality meat like buffalo or lean meats like that. Drink lots of water. Vitamin E and A help (Accutane is actually a concentrated form of Vitamin A, if that tells you antyhing ;) ). Selenium is a good supplement, and so is Zinc (they work well together too).

Mostly it is avoiding the bad things, and giving your body what it needs. Try to avoid sugar as much as possible. Use STEVIA as a sweetener, or honey or agave nectar. Stevia is the best though. Do not use white sugar or consume anything that has sucraloce or high fructose corn syrup in it.

GET A SHOWER FILTER.

A KDF shower filter is the best, costs around 30-100$ depending what kind you get. It has Copper and Zinc in it, it is called KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) technology, and it will remove a lot of harmful things in your water.

If you have baths, get one of those hoses that are used for hand-held shower heads and fill the bath up with the shower filter.

That is really a major point. You are showering or bathing in chemicals and your skin is at CONSTANT WAR with the contaminants in your tap water.

Drink pure water as well. If you can, get a reverse osmosis. Otherwise, Aquafina and Dasani are okay brands (you still get the plastics though). Brita filters and fridge filters do next to NOTHING to purify water.

Couple other tips: Wash your sheets at least once a week, hopefully they are light colored and you can use bleach. Get as much sun exposure as you can, even fake tanning is good IN MODERATION and for 5 minutes or less. It is for your health, not for your tan. And for spot-treating certain zits, use a 10% benzoyl peroxide GEL.

Try all that for 3 months, and let me know your results! Goodluck.

lol if that doesnt work idk know what will.

i wish i can offer advice but im one of those kids that only get pimples, when i stress out or do not maintain a good diet.

so all i can say is try to find a way to drink water routinely and eat right, to me i think your acne will go away with time just like most people

goodluck:)

How long do you actually stick with something? Sometimes it helps to not mess around with the products so often. One of my friends swears by toothpaste at night on problem pimples. I have the opposite problem so I've never tried it. My face is always bone dry and moisturizers make my skin burn. I haven't found one that works yet. My face will get so dry that it hurts. Particularly in the winter.
