Chameleon Info:

Your Chameleon - 7month Male Ambilobe, in my care for 1 month. Bought at Arizona reptile show.
Handling - Never, he gets pissed and wants to bite.
Feeding - 6-10 crickets a day. He's only ate 1 superworm.
Supplements - Calcium wD3 once every 2 weeks. Reptivite once a month.
Watering - Mist the cage 3 times a day, use mini dripper 2 times a day. He LOVES water, will even let me spray it on hte leaf in front of him while he lapse it up.
Fecal Description - Goes about every 4 days, seems like it's in a sack so it's been easy to clean. Never been tested for parasites or anything.
History - Bought from a store in texas that was at a local reptile show. The reason i bought this one was because he was already showing great color, bright greens with bright yellow lips.

Cage Info:

Cage Type - All screen 24x24x48
Lighting - ReptiSun 5.0 wihth a Zoo Med daylight blue 60w heating bulb placed 9" over basking spot. I also have a 12" daylight flourescent to light up the cage at the bottom.
Temperature - Basking spot is currently at 88. Floor is at 74 which is what the temp inside my house is. Overnight hits about 68. I measure with a thermal temp gun.
Humidity - I have a guage that reads from a normal of 40 to about 65-70 after i spray cage.
Plants - Golden Pothos
Placement - In a nook in a high traffic area. only viewable on 1 side. no vents/fans. height of cage from floor is roughly 6' 5"
Location - Scottsdale, Arizona

Current Problem - My chameleon seemed to do very well when i first got him. Now he is staying black most of the time. he turns greenish when he is hiding in the leaves. He has large white spots on his sides. but they look like his normal skin and not a fungus of anytype. He has never shed in the 1 month i've had him. He seems to have stopped eating about 4 days ago. There are still a few crickets hiding in his cage. Should i only use a feed bowl since it's a large cage? I've had a hard time getting his basking spot adjusted. I had a 100w blue bulb, then a 75w direct spot basking bulb, now im' at a 60w which seems just right. I'm mostly concerned about his coloring and the fact that he doesn't seem to be hunting for food like he did right when i got him. Sorry for the kinda crappy photos. I'll try to take better photos.

Can you try to upload the photos some other way, please? I can't see or open them as they are. You can use something like photobucket or imageshack.us to upload your photos.

Yeah...he does look a bit pissed.

What is the light I'm seeing at the bottom of the cage? Was that just for the photo shoot? Because there should only be strong light coming from above. The bottom of the cage should be the darkest part of the cage.

I love that nook for a chameleon cage! I want my next house to have those all over the place.

I am not an expert, but he may be a little constipated right now. The first thing I would try would be a shower. Put him in the shower or under a misting system and let him just soak for a while. The high humidity and access to clean running water will get him thoroughly hydrated. I would do this for at least 15 or 20 minutes.
The next step would be to get him to a qualified vet for fecal exams. He could be loaded with nematodes.

The flourescent at the bottom is just to light up the cage because it was so dark with just the lights at the top. Should I get rid of it, or maybe move it to the top?. I will try a extra long misting session since I can't get him out of the cage.

The bottom of the cage should be dark. Sun on top, ground on bottom...it's basic orientation. I would definitely ditch that.

You said you use Calcium wD3 once every 2 weeks. Reptivite once a month....IMHO you should be using phos.-free calcium at most feedings as well.

how cold is it in Arizona? Can you get him out for natural sunlight? I know you said he is mean but maybe you can get him to crawl on a stick or a plant and get him out that way. I think the sun would be geat for him

He looks stressed wth that dark coloration. Being in a high traffic area he might be staying in the back and turning dark becuase he feels threatened. You could try putting a sheet over that nook for a while to sheild him from any activity and see if he improves.
