He is a beautiful chameleon!

Jake

The purple or the blue? lol! Thanks - and that's his bad side where he had the thing clipped form his eye last spring. You can sort of see the spot. He is my little sweetie ;). About my only lizard not giving me grief these days.

that must be a very long section of vine where did you get it
I just have a bunch of 6' pieces bent together that hang from ceiling hooks and lead to his cage so he can roam. You can sort of see some of the others in the background He loves to be out and gets very mopey if he can't. He is also very good about going back in to bask and drink most of the time.

who takes care of all the chameleons?
I let the cats watch them :D JK, I only have one

I love his (the real one) coloration around the eyes. What happened to his nails tho?

Not sure. He's done some screen climbing, but no more than my veiled did and she had all her toenails. I have tried to look back to earlier photos to see if he always had a problem that I just never detected. :( but it's hard to tell. This is why he has mostly jungle vine both in and out of his cage as he can grasp it better. I had the other, smoother type and he actually fell from it twice - once to the floor ! Fortunately, I was right here when it happened and was able to break his second fall. I ended up wrapping it in rope which helped somewhat but it was sort of fat for him so I got the bumpy jungle vine which he has no trouble with and I can leave him alone on it.

any chance you can take a pic or two from far away so we can see your vine highway in its entirety?

wow very nice to let your chameleon run all around your ceiling. i have somethings similar set up but in a far smaller scale. just goes a few feet from his cage and thats as far he can go. anyways very cool!

i was loking online and found a 50 foot section at http://www.reptiledepot.com/new1.html i think i am going to get a roll and let calvin roam around my room. has he ever pooped on anything?

That 50' section would be handy. I looked at your link and see it says "baby" vine so it may be a very small diameter. I find the Medium jungle vine to work best for Cyrus. For a jungle gym the "cut as you go" method would be helpful. I got the idea from someone on another forum several years ago and they used bungee cords. I used sash cord for Luna, my veiled, and she was fine except she would twirl around a lot (pretty funny). I have lots of photos of her and that setup here: http://community.webshots.com/user/13lele

As for pooping - YES!!!! Cyrus is in my office and his gym is right above one of my drawing tables! Another portion is above another table where I keep some old books that I list on ebay. I am now in the habit of throwing a shower curtain over everything until I know he has pooped. Sometimes I forget and...well, I pay the piper, or rather the pooper!

all in all it works out quite well. he gets very excited when I open the panel and trips over himself to get out! lol! I work from home so have the luxury of keeping an eye on him. if I have to be out of the room for any length of time and he is content somewhere on the vine I just disconnect the lead into the cage and he cannot get anywhere. He likes to climb on top of the cage so I have to be sure he is either in the cage or "stranded" on the gym unless I am right here.

Let me know if you want more pics.

Hi John,

Looks like we were cross posting! A few extra cup hooks from the ceiling can really extend the roaming. There are always precautions to take and I have to admit there has been a time or two when I have forgotten to detach the lead vine and found him on top of the cage  I have not forgotten lately;)

There is also regualar vine under the baby option. Calvin likes to go for little trips outside his cage to the back yard. when i start walking towrads the door he grabs on with his back feet and tail and frantically tries to go towards the yard, so i thought a big vine would be fun for him.
