another handling question

hi everyone

some of you know ive had sully 4 weeks.since day 1 he has been very friendly showing no stress signs i can see.now ive read thread upon thread about handling causes stress.but what if the cham wants to come out onto you?would they do that if they knew it caused them stress?

i never get him out on my own accord but most of the time everyday he will see me come into the room and run to the front of the glass and scratch at it to come out.i do get him out but not always.i brought him a ficus which i attached some bamboo & vines too so he had more pathways on it.dont get me wrong he loves to sit on it but he prefers to sit on me or near me.he will reach for me.
personally i believe he does not mind it.
he doesnt come out for food as i only occasionally give him treats when hes out.he never runs from my hand back into his home.he will walk slowly back onto a branch but most of the time he will just sit on my hand and not move lol.
when hes out his colour is always bright and never dark.hes never puffed up well he did twice first time he see a waxworm but it lasted 2 seconds before he gobbled it upthe second time was when he first see the mister bottle, but never whilst handling.hes never hissed etc.he doesnt run from me when hes out.i always sit on the sofa when hes out so hes surrounded by cushioning.he walks all over me and seems to enjoy exploring.he likes to walk from my shoulder along the sofa onto my husbands shoulder and likes sitting on my head.

i dont feel he tolerates handling at all and feel there are some chams out there like mine who do just dont mind it.im not say other people are wrong in what there saying about handling causing stress but im just speaking from what ive seen from my cham hes not stressed by it.my setups fine so i know hes not wanting to come out for any bad reason with his home.he has lots of hiding places, vines etc.he eats great and drinks everyday.

i spend alot of time with him and do respect his space when hes in his vivarium.

his lights come on a 7am.30/40mins after hes warmed up hes down the bottom just sitting there waiting for me to let him out.he normally wouldnt want to come out till around 12pm.its just in the last week hes started wanting to come out early.not everyday but id say 5 days out of 7.once out he will just either sit on my arm or on my hand still and content while i drink my tea and watch a bit of morning telly.

im not saying he likes me or anything im just saying that after reading many people on this forum stating in other threads that any cham thats handled gets stressed,i just dont believe that.if handled on there terms and handled the right way and depending on the chams personality its ok and i believe its not impossible for a cham to enjoy itxx

I fail to see the question here.

You have a cham who likes to be handled. Enjoy it, it's on the rarer side imo. I have a Panther who runs to the door every morning I open to mist because he wants to come out and explore. If I let him out he roams the apartment but doesn't care to stay on me, although he seems to frequent the areas that I'm occupying. I wouldn't say he prefers to be out with me just that he prefers to be out and will tolerate my handling if that's what it takes to be out. And he has a full size enclosure so he's not pressed for space.

My two Jackson's look at me like I'm the plague so I leave them alone. But they just got here yesterday.

Everyone has a different animal with it's own traits and personalities so be happy you have a friendly one. Countless others do not and that's not a matter of opinion, it's a fact. :)

it was more curiosity of others opinions.yes im happy but my point is its not impossible to get a cham that enjoys it as many believe its not.
when you read no cham enjoys handling and you see a cham like mine you question there opinion and how they can come to that conclusion

"Everyone has a different animal with it's own traits and personalities so be happy you have a friendly one. Countless others do not and that's not a matter of opinion, it's a fact."

100% true and im not boasting and yes i am happy i have a friendly one.im just stating in detail how my cham is and what basis i have to state my opinion and showing that the "no chameleon enjoys handling statement is simply untrue" imo of course

I have 2 chams, my veiled, Simone looks at me & hisses & sometimes lunges at me when she is in her cage.
My panther, James Cagney, loves to come out & I take him places with me, he rides on a straw cowboy hat & is always ready to meet people & explore. When I take the hat down, he comes to the front of his cage & paws at the door. He is an awesome guy.
