hi all. its been awhile since I've been on.
well im in hawaii again and went chameleon hunting and found a big male! most awsome chameleon ever! I put my hand up to him and he crawled on !! he is soo cool! brought it to my house here and as of now it is 7am and he is sleeping.
well im in the health section to say that he looks fat and healthy
but!
I don't know if it is bad, but he is lime green always. even wen handled. except the top of his head is dark brown. is it normal or are they supposed to be alll green?
also under his butt, the is brown on his tail like a stain? maybe a bad sign? do they get diareaha?
please help so I know if I should try to give him a better life in cali or not. my female jackson will be happy ;)
she is doing amazing and has grown about and inch or 2.

also what u won't believe is that pet stores here sell these chameleons for 10 dollars since they're so common!
the only problem and why I didn't want to get one is they keep 10 in a cage and u can tell that one male is healthier then the rest. they all look sick. and its really sad...

well thanks for the help ahead of time :)

and btw im not writing cage info and all that because this is how he was before I brought him home. he is a WiLD CAUGhT. :D

Is there anyway to check him for parasite before you take him home?? Where are the pics of this guy!!!

Also Im going to Hawaii in August and I have been looking into bringing one back with me. You must obtain a permit to do so and it also has to be approved by your airline to bring it onto the plane.....
I was thinking of shipping one over night to my house that way I donthave to deal with permit and all that jazz..........ill just see what happens when I get there!

yah I was thinking that too. so once it poops ill try checking.
but
yah last time I brought a female over through my pants :D lol
I never got checked. but now im 18 so consequeses will be worse if caught so im scared. im going to try to get a permit today and just sneak it on the plane so if anything it won't be too bad.
but wen u get here u should look on koolua range.
but let me tell u. it took 4 hours to find him. they r soooo hard to see! lol

His messy vent doesn't sound good, I'd think parasites.

But congrats on the male! good luck getting him home- and post pictures!

lol ill bring u some if u buy them :)
I found sum1 selling a pregnant femal for pretty cheap! do u think she wuld be able to handle the plane ride and not misscarriage??

also weird thing about this male is his tail is blue but his body is lime green... hmmm??

oh wow. so u guys won't believe this! found sum1 who breeds them here. and he had too many babies so he gave me 8 new born. 3 days old!!! they r awsome! if anyone wants to buy one make an offer!! ill be back in cali . sunday night.

so here are some pics. plz tell me how he looks..

this shows his head which i womnder is it normal to always be dark??
and the brown vent... do u think that will fade with shedding?
he did poop today and it was A LOT! 3 half inch egg shaped. one was white with brown and two were just brown.. not liquidy. but it was solid.

also i have read how bad it is to handle them, but i honestly have never seen him turn brown! and held him alot because of getting them all over from hawaii.
he eats off my hands while holding him,
he always seems happy and active, even falls asleeo while holding him without it having to be pitch black or dark. my female on the otherhand turns dark. :(
i have noticed my male will get bright bright green, so is that the same as him getting stressed?
he has never hiss or shown bany sign of anger..
i even bump horns with him! ;)

lol

well please give me sum info on how he looks. also right now im trying to fix up a cage for him but itll be awhile, so if anyone is close by and might let me borrow one id appreciate it.. im in so cal. thanks! :D

What are you keeping the babies in, and what are you feeding them?

What are you keeping him in, in the mean time?

Not to be presumptious, but you should have had this stuff ready before you took him from his habitat. It is quite possible those babies are the offspring of a WC and not CBB.

i made the cage for the babies its 1ft by 1ft by 1.5ft.. temporary..
for him he is getting to walk around a room. but at night i have a mesh laundry basket with a plants in it that is 1ft by 2ft x 3ft.
they r fine there and there was no way of getting this prepared before because it was unexspected.
as for the babies, the guy said he bred them and he did have over 100 of them, and some more pregnent on the way. sadly he only have about 4 cages, but they were pretty big ones.. :/
but he said the babies were 3rd generation.

I am sorry, what are you feeding the babies again?

Also, the "bump horns" picture, his eyes are closed and he is showing some blacks along his flanks. He might find handling more stressful than you think, do you know the signs of stress you are looking for?

he helps pick my nose :p

and for the signs ive been looking for him turning dark like the female jackson i have does.. she does it right away when i pick her up.

Nice to see you got some food for the babies.
Have you seen this site?
http://www.geocities.com/chamjacksonii/

I think it would be a good resource for your current situation. If you need cages, you can DIY one, here is mine:
https://www.chameleonforums.com/budget-no-skill-diy-26260/

It is more for outdoor due to lack of drainage, not sure if jacksons would be okay outdoors when it really starts warming up, you gotta ask other socal keepers.

For an indoor cage, http://lllreptile.com/ is always good. That or the classifieds.

and thats a nice cage! how much does it cost about??
im not too worried about the heat in cali, im more worried bout the cold at night because hawaii was always pretty warm and humid.
i can always try to set up a drain too.
