Any ideas on locale?

Hi! New to forum and new to Chameleons but fairly old hand at reptiles in general, I wanted to introduce Barry, the newest member of the family and ask if anyone could take a stab at the locale?

I'm chuffed to bits with him, after reading up on them I was lead to believe that he was gonna be a fairly ornamental pet and would not like being handled much but every time I'm sat next to the tank with the door open he comes out and watches the telly sat on my shoulder or head... He's so ace!!!

No not in a tank, its a bit of a homemade job, any constructive crit would be appeciated, I know i will have to upgrade at some point but for now I think its O.k for size.

I don't know if the UVB is big enough, I went for Repti Glo 5.0 and he has a 65 watt spotlight, dripper and I rigged up a little mister with a small fishtank heater to go off for 5 mins twice a day because all the walls except for the front are mesh, so I was a bit worried about humidity.

Nosy be.You should go for a bigger tank in the long term but this will do for now. Use the space in the higher part of the viv,put in some extra branches to climb on.

Thanks thats taken on board, what about those fake vines? any good? I don't know about the fore arms they are both the same he just looks stacked to me, I have caught him doing pull ups quite often!!

Here is a couple pics of his arms do they seem ok?

i would get rid of the substrate, you dont need it, and if you are concerned about the humidity then taking out the substrate will lower it.

Sorry, I meant that I thought the humidity would be too low, I only put the substrate in to try to raise it slightly but I must admit I have not got a humidity gauge yet.

i think what he ment by the arm "being suspect" was directed towards his color patterns..suggesting he might be a different locale(my guess would be ambanja) or even a mix...

he does look quite ripped however..what is he kindda anabolic is he on!?!?!?? :D

pretty sure he was wondering about possible mbd, due to a slight curve in the forearm;) Looks like a nosey be to me:)

I would say that the cage appears big enough to house him for the rest of his life... Appears to be near a 4x2x2 foot cage...and no need to go bigger than that IMO. I would agree that you should add some more stuff to climb on in the upper area of the, and to remove the substrate. Rely on regularly misting the leaves to maintain humidity. I like to use the fake vines to add to climbing spaces and highways between plants, I like to hang a pothos high in the cage to add height. I would say it looks like you have a good grasp of what to do...Thumbs up.:). And very unique looking Nosy you got there! Have fun!

 Oh! I thought you meant that there was some arm disfigurement that a newb would not recognize! [please read: slightly defensive novice!]

I have however in my paranoia, I checked an found that the pad on his front right foot seems slightly pink and does not have scales the same as the other three feet, it looks like it might have rested on a bulb at some point, he seems fine walking on it but I will keep a close eye. I will photo it once I've taught him to wave... Or dance the robot!

Thanks for the advice, I will stick a load more stuff in the top.

One more question! I read that Orchids are o.k as plants to go in. My girlfriend loves orchids and I was wondering whether I could cover the ground with Jewel Orchids... Any advice?

Well, I see the bow also. Would you be willing to get some more pics of that leg straightened out some? Also, what do you know about his history? Wild-caught?

What does a leg bow mean? I know that he was bred in a pet shop in Kent (uk) but thats about it.

These are some leg photos!

In the pic in your opening post it looks much more pronounced. If he was bred in captivity he may have experienced a mild case of metabolic bone disease (MBD), more commonly known as rickets, from an imbalance or insufficiency of vitamins and minerals during his development. The most common symptoms are uncharacteristic bows or bends in the bones of the forearm. If that's what it was, he's full-grown now so it should be pretty easy to keep him healthy and happy with proper care. :)
