Well, I am a vegetarian, and I am wondering who else is Vegetarian. I have just become a vegetarian about 2-3 weeks ago, but I am not a Vegan (too hard for me hehehe) so anyone else? good tips? vitamins and supplements, i haven't found much and would love some help to kick start this!
Thanks!

I'm not a vegetarian at all, but I would recommend talking to an actual nutricionist. Only a professional will know how to do this properly for you and your body type, to keep you healthy. Because it's a healthy lifestyle choice but only if you know how to do it correctly :)

Also, if you're a vegetarian because of the ethical issues surrounding animals as food, stay away from some protein supplements, since they tend to be ground up animal bone. Or that's what I was told today by a woman in a class of mine that's been a vegetarian for 15 years.

vegetarian

I just returned to vegetarianism about 6+ months ago, mostly out of concern with antiobiotics, hormones and the in-humane treatment of mass-marketed animals for meat. If you get a chance, find the book "Eating Animals", I read this a few weeks ago and wish everyone I loved would read it. It truly changed my life even more. If you crave meat texture, try to learn how to make gluten. It is easy, directions are intimidating, but is a good textural meat replacement, not sure how healthy, def not like tofu or tempeh. I would be happy to communicate with you more if you have any questions.:p
I am also one of those who cannot kill anything but mosquitos, gave up my ball python due to the feeding. Now it is different with my cham, no problem giving him the insects he needs.

Thanks! :) my grandfather has been a vegetarian for the past 30 years :D and I will look around for that book :). I hate the killing of animals and also i would love to be healthier!

and I won't take them if they are from animal bones. thats just disgusting! I love tofu too! Tofurkey YUM :)

i could consider myself a half vegetarian.

i almost NEVER eat meat. i will usually have meat about 1 time a week.
not including fish. but i have fish about 2x a week. but my diet mainly consists of grains, fruits and vegetables.

and popcorn.:D
but i agree, it is very sad to kill harmless animals. but it is a way of life. if everybody stopped eating meat, then america wouldnt be so obese.

Check your jeans! They usually have leather label things on them. Almost all sugar brands have cattle bones in them unless stated otherwise.

Been a vegetarian since I was 10. Make sure you don't have deficiencies. My doctor has blood work done every 6-12 months on me just in case. Last time I needed more vit D.

I dont think eating meat is really part of Americas obesity problem. Eating it in excess, yes, along with every other thing in excess.

I will take a salad over junk food any day of the week.......although I hope a mouth watering medium rare steak follows it!!!

To quote Jonathan Safran Foer, author of "Eating Animals", Americans now eat 150x as many chickens as we did only 80 yrs ago. According to the National Chicken Council about 180 million chickens are improperly slaughtered each year. The factory farming of animals is actually destroying our earth and our health and they factory farm to keep up with our greedy demands...I'll get off my soap box, read the book.

I think obesity will continue to be a problem as long as french fries are considered vegetables in schools around the country!? Seems like a healthy lifestyle, but I would miss bacon too much!
