Any way to tell or remove parasites without vet?

Some people will tell you that Reptaid will kill parasites. For me, I think the vet angle is the best. I had one get coccidia and he would not be alive today if I had not gotten the right medicine. My vet will do a fecal for $20, the medicine usually costs me $12-$20.

Hi LeoThePanther,it depends on what kind the parasites?how heavily was infested? The chams health conditions? I would highly recommend the chameleon specialist vet for a total diagnose on the cham u talking About than blindly looking for a homemade treatment, good luck:)

What makes you think that your chameleon has parasites?? Make sure to take a fresh fecal sample with you for testing.

Personally, I do fecal exams every 6 months. If you don't want to do that, symptoms include lethargy and not eating. The only problem with waiting until the symptoms show is that the fecal load may be so bad that the treatment could endanger the animal's health. Anti parasitic drugs are hard on the kidneys...

So only way is the vet but I don't want to use my money

Chameleons are high maintenance animals. The cost of a fecal and parasite treatment is nothing compared to the other expensive supplies and vet bills that you will incur. Maybe a chameleon is not the right pet for you if you don't plan to spend the money needed to keep the animal healthy.

I wouldn't advocate not taking your cham to the vet if it is showing signs of being ill. However for a routine fecal I bought a microscope. The price of three vet visits, and fecals will pay for everything you need. After that it's just the cost of the supplies. You can even get the meds on sites like beautiful dragons to treat them with if need be. however I would caution you need to be very sure of the dosages, and it would be well advised to confer with a vet to be sure. That being said with my lizard's, dogs, and cats it has saved me a bunch. The learning curve isn't that hard. I hope this helps:)
