My babys eyes randomly close alot. He is under a month old I think. I have. Had him for two days. He seems healthy, he moves around And changes color alot, but I don't think he's eating either. Thanks
Under a month old? that is a very young chameleon to care for. Your lighting and temps need to be correct especially with babies. Please fill out this form so we can try and help you. Chameleons should not be closing their eyes during the day hours. https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/
Im on an iPhone so I hope I am doing this right . He is a vieled Cham, male, I'm not sure how old. He is tiny though. I got him 2 days ago. I handled him today for the first time to try to hand feed him. I also tried taking him outside for sun since he was out. I use zoomed reptivite d3 and herpvite calcium. I mist 3-4 times a day. I have never seen his poop. But I thought I saw it once but it looked white and I don't believe he has Ben tested. He has a screen cage and I think it's 24 by something. It is a good size for him. I know. He has a blue 60 watt basking bulb and a UVB/a bulb , I'm not home so I don't know the brand. I do not measure temp because the breeder said that no matter what 60 watt bulb will provide the perfect temp. I doubt that though. The guy said they need no humidity so I don't keep track. We have no live plants but I want ficus but I heard it hurt there eyes.. The cage Is in my bedroom a few feet a way from a air vent. There's not too much traffic. I am located in texas. Thank you
I normally don't use a basking light at all with babies just a UVB and make sure the UVB is up high from the baby and if it's a coil type UVB some have been know to cause eye problems. You need to be able to check his temps. I would recommend a good digital temp gun. I'm attaching my blog for new keepers below. Be sure to check out the supplement section. The main supplement you will use is the calcium with no d3.
His UVB light is not coils. They look like coils but are straight. There like the tubes kinda. Also I am going to put a brick under the light. It is right ontop of the cage I was worried he would burn. Is that the only way to extend the light? Also should I remove his basking bulb. Also my dad thinks the Cham is 6 weeks old. He is about three thumb nails length. Thank you, I will read your blog now.
