Would a 10 gallon be ok for temp housing of a really small baby cham ?

Glass is Great!
I like to use glass for all my small/baby chams up to 3-4 months of age(depending on species/size)
With a 10 gal do not use a basking bulb just use a 18" 5.0 UVB Repti-sun strip light.
Measure your temps and humidity closely at first.
Be careful with watering too because humidity can become too high and cause URI.
Try misting/dripping half of the enclosure at a time.

It sounds like you'd fry it.
I'd go with an all screen cage unless it's under two months old then a rubbermaid bin would work.

Its way too small for an all screen cage, Its no longer than an inch with out the tail.

A 40w basking bulb in a 72 degree room (avg indoor temp) would be WAYYYYY too hot. Something like 130-150 degrees. I do not use a basking bulb in a 10 gal w young chams but if you feel the need/if it is too cold ONLY use a 25w bulb and raise it 3-6 inches above the screen lid.

I use 10 gallons for many species/babies and the work great. If it is an inch DO NOT use a basking bulb.

Some member here put just hatched babies in screened cages. I would not put a veiled in glass. Use something like this if you don't want to use screen.

Thanks for all the help so far. I have to go get the tank, I will be back to ask many more questions, I did all the reading for a bigger set up. Then got a really small cham.

Why wouldn't you put a Veiled in glass? Have you had any problems with glass? I have been using glass for baby veileds, jacksons, panthers and now montium for years with no problems. It looks better than a DIY tub and if you drill them like I do, they have no negative consequences.

Interesting. Keeping up with temps/humidity is almost the same as screen if not easier.

Don't buy a glass tank. It is a waste of money and could be harmful for your baby. Use a Rubbermaid bin. You don't even have to put screen on it if you don't put your foliage close to the edge. I use them exclusively for my babies, then butterfly cage. That would be much better since it is all soft mesh and are only $6.00, easy to clean and there is plenty of ventilation. It is also easy to spray without drowning your little guy.
My recommendation is NO GLASS. Veileds grow so fast that within 2 months it will be 4" long.

Everyone says no glass but never lists reasons. I am interested in the reasons behind this.
I can think of many benefits but no real cons. Many exp cham owners use glass and some use glass only! I have never had any problems using glass for babies. I think it is your best option for the really small chams.Dustin
