Bioactive

I went with butyl rubber because I had some spare cut offs then a plug and waste underneath that will serve as a cupboard, I should add I making my terrarium from converting my daughters old wardrobe so the bottoms wood, so done 3 layers to be sure 😆
This is what I'm starting with

Can I ask you, are you fitting a stopcock/tap to the exit pipe to regulate how much you let out or leaving open, I’m undecided on what’s best?
Basically we’re providing enough water into the soil and personally I would for completely open. This way you could regulate your misting duration. If your cham would love to drink longer or reacts slower towards drinking. You can play with it without overwatering everything. If there’s spagnum moss, charcoal and clay mud balls in the soil, then this will regulate the water permeability

Open it is then, saves me a job, just need To remember to stick a bowl under it now, cheers 👍
Hi if you plan on using a mister I would recommend using something bigger than I bowl , I'm going to use a larger catchment bin volume wise than my reservoir, firstly to see how much run off their is initially, but also if there was a fault with either me setting it up wrong(lol very possible) or a fault with the mister and the reservoir emptying, better safe than sorry

Yea I’ll be using a mister, most likely morning and night and dripper through the day, be interesting to know how much comes out and how much the clay balls take up , hopefully won’t be too much.

Agreed easier to add moisture than get it out , I can be a bit forgetful so probably end up with frog tank or fish tank lol 😆

Just been putting my substrate in and I'm thinking about your question, about the run off water and closed or open valve, I think I might just put something on the pipe for the option ,

yeah Easy enough to do and then you have options and can see what works better, open or shut

So the dried moss isn't working( which I rehydrated) so that's out drying out to quickly and takes some time to grow ,

sphagnum moss I take it? What you going to do? Find a alternative or go without it?
It was mixed moss , not sure , I just got tropical moss today going to attach it to the ledges ( which I didn't get 100% coverage with the ct1 and ground fern bark but has given a decent amount and created a good abrasive surface for the moss , I really don't know humidity will fair though. When you getting your cham

For me I think I’ll have trouble keeping the humidity down in the day, I’ve got a meter up where I’m going to put the terrarium and it’s sitting at 50 most days, will just have to see, I’m looking to get mine end of July as I’ve got to go back to uk for a couple weeks so don’t want to get him before and can’t put that on the pet sitter, they got enough to do already 😆. How many u got or will this be your first Cham?

Yeah thats what I mean the humidity in the room is currently at 57% , so might have issues keeping it down, getting my first boy 19 June, second cham , wish I could get a pet sitter , don't know who could cope with my 2 American bandog mastiffs, lol although I don't think I could leave them with anyone. And very disappointed the breeder of my new panther has said he does not lay golden eggs , I'm not quite sure how to tell the bank , 😕 have a safe trip

So also didn't want any barrier mesh showing or anything going down behind it so used spare cork , to seal it off

What I've noticed, unless the uv and basking are angled, not getting the temp plus the uv levels, versus them both flush on top
