Dark Female

I'm making it all wood with the screen. The wood supports it if you have enough of it supporting it.

Could probably make that fairly cheap then.

If we end up breeding our Chameleons and can't find cheap cages we'll probably end up building some lol

Hey how long does it take Eggs to hatch? What about in between the breeding and having the eggs laid.. how long?

Eggs can be incubated in slightly moist vermiculite at 75-80 degrees. Fertile eggs are bright white, and when illuminated from behind in a dark room, are suffused with blood vessels. Infertile eggs are usually yellow and do not have blood vessels. During incubation, the eggs must be spaced a least one inch apart (to prevent premature hatching) and should be kept in the dark. After 150-200 days, the eggs should hatch. Right before hatching, the eggs will "sweat"-form little beads of water on their surface, and will begin to cave in. A day or so after this, the eggs should hatch.

wow they take quite a while to hatch

What would be a good storage spot for them? Like a dark closet? Or something that doesn't get opened so often?

Are you supposed to check on the eggs while waiting for them to hatch?

I'm gonna put mine in the garage.

So just something that stays dark? Cool.

I'll probably be asking a bunch more later this year. I think it would be cool to at least try and breed them. Ya know. Even if we fail.

Ya but it needs to be warm.

Yea we're gunna be moving out of this house and into a small house or a trailer before we even try and breed. We won't have a garage but we will no doubt have a warm closet. or something that we can keep them nice and safe and warm in.

Ya, and you should keep the humitity pretty high also.

We are proud that we've done so well with her though. And when we got the Male her was litteraly skin and bones, you could see all his bones, we fattened him up. He looks so much better and he's alot more friendly since he's been able to eat more.

Thats always nice to know.

So, Your female is brighter than last night?

She's been going BRIGHT and then DARK.. currently she is dark.

I think I might have to fix her cage up tonight to see if thats helps. Maybe check the sheet between the cages and make sure she can't see the Male. . dunno. lol
