Discreet Feeder Shipping (packaging)!

i've had shipments come from LLL where they were double boxed and the outside box had no screening, they made it without any problems. they were overnighted though.

pretty much all live feeder selling places overnight ship. or two day ship. i ordered bugs from mulberry yesterday, if they arnt here today, they will def be here tomorrow.

i'm aware, lol. i usually have most bugs shipped 2-3 day during the spring and on not so hot summer days, and overnighted during the colder months.

but i haven't ordered crickets online in a while as i have a fairly large dubia colony and they do much better than crickets when shipped in colder temps.

during summer days, mulberry made me go to the psot office of fedex to pick up.. no delivery to my house. and while i really want a dubia colony.. i cannot justify 10 bucks on 25 bugs, then the months it takes to get the colony big enough i can feed it off.
ntm, i cant handle intentionally bringing roaches into my house. :p

i do agree though, dubia can be slow, but there are other species that produce pretty fast in comparison

i've never ordered anything from mulberry, LLL were my cricket dealers for a while before i made the switch and i've always just had them shipped to my place without any problems.

i still buy crickets in smaller numbers though, i have tarantulas and scorpions that cower in fear if a roach is anywhere near them, lol.

I get all bugs shipped to my apt, and my complex couldnt care less.. at least, no complaints so far. ;)
I jsut feed all bugs cept for mealies, roaches, and locusts (and i would feed locusts, i just dont have any)
and no mantis, they are too pretty and cool.

Haha! yea, my adult crix are chirping.. but i cant hear them when i keep my study door closed. chams and the ferret have the study to themselves.

i might probably get roaches, but right now, i simply cant get past the fact im intentionall bringing roaches into my house.

Lucky you..

Well i think this is my situation, and its only an issue with crickets in bulk.

Every other type of feeder has came in without issue. I would love to keep crickets as a staple in my Chams diet , but because of the issue i'm forced to use other feeders that can be shipped discreetly or breed my own.

I am going to do a little of both.

well roaches sound the way to go for you. no noise.
or you can buy crix locally, and build up a colony of them.

I have ordered about $150 in feeders in the past month and has only had an issue with the crickets (mainly because you can clearly view the crickets through the mesh windows, but i assume this is the way they ship them). Guess thats what i get for trying to save a few bucks by buying in bulk.

A colony of Crix?? lmaooo , i'll pass!!

I am so glad I don't live in some big city, here in southern California I have 4 reptile shops no more than 10 miles away, 2 are only 4 blocks away from my house.

I have a ton of Pet Stores near by. No mom and pop Reptile stored tho.

PetLand is .10 cents per cricket (they will bearly make it home alive)
PetCo is .15 cents per cricket (better quality, but damn if i wanted 1000 it would be $150 + tax)

your petland crickets suck too? hm. makes you wonder.

if i buy any large crickets from the store by me, before i get home at least 20 are dead and the rest join them in cricket heaven overnight. they want $65 for a box of 1000 too..uhh, no thanks!

Suck isnt the word!!

Usually i'd expect a slight over count. But with them , if you buy 20 crickets you are getting 20 crickets (either dead or on deaths door).

I once made a fuss when i was counting the dead , when i got to 6 i said "heyy wth is going here??"

They had to get a manager involved just to go back in the bin and get me 6 live crickets.

So i'm expecting a shipment of 1000 crickets and some hornworms. I went down to the lobby today to try to intercept the packages, lol.

Well at 9:50am i hadd to leave for work and nothing had arrived. I made small talk with the doormen . One guy is new , been there for about 2 weeks now and seems to be the morning shift guy.

I was in the process of ploting out this story about how i am weening my Cham off of live crickets to freez dried ones. lmaoo
Told them how "i hope they get my order correct this time and send me the freez dried ones". The new guy goes "You have a Cham? What kind?"

I told him , and he tells me how he has a Cham also. A Ambliobe x Nosy Be cross. lmaoooo!! Small world!! I told him my situation and he was cool about it and understood. He will try to keep my feeder shipments low-key and call me ASAP!:D
