Beautiful!!!! i love birds :) esp. smart ones :D

Eclectus are pretty smart. It amazes me that a bird can get jealous. Ty

She is pretty, but pretty girls are fickle. Guess you better get used to playing second fiddle.:):)

O' i am..Nothing i can do about it either. Ty

what a beautiful little trader you got there :D:p:rolleyes:

Trader is not the word for her!! in my eyes...She so much worst than that! Ty

Back stabbers, aren't they sometimes? She's a gorgeous girl.. but that just makes it worse!

cool bird! There is a small mom/pop pet shop by me that has the coolest bird there for sale. A Toucan, I can just sit and look some birds forever. My wife said its the pretty colors and that I am easily distracted.

I love female eclectus, they're so beautiful. Are they screamers? How loud are they? I live in a high rise with many neighbors so I've always been leary about getting a parrot due to noise.

Thank you. To be honest i dont think i could resist getting a toucan even if it meant not eatting for a month..:p

LuLu is quite lovely. I love her beautiful color. What's their average life span?

Thanks jann, i have read different age approximates. It seems the most i read is around 30 years.

They are awesome but i can tell you they can get loud. Not as loud as lets say a cockatoo, african grey or macaw but louder than a parakeet or cockatiel ;)

The fact that you raised her is the reason she bonded to someone else. I guess she views you as related (parent bird), and is seeking a mate elsewhere. i was the 2nd owner of my Umbrella Cockatoo and she bonded to me right away and get VERRRY jealous and aggressive when others are too close to me of have my attention.

I also went through what you're going through. I hand fed my sun conure as a baby and for awhile she preferred another member of the family. But with intelligent social creatures..they can be trained. I started to clicker train my bird as I would with my dogs. They need mental stimulation to not become obsessed with things and people. With all training it takes patience and consistency to see results. Here's a video of me training my bird. http://youtu.be/ZOrNjed-xa0 So don't give up!

that makes sense. never really thought of it that way. thanks for the info.

It is frustrating isnt it? I have heard of training with a clicker before but hve never tried anything yet.. I will definitely watch your vid. thanks for posting!

It was very discouraging. I was very upset for a long time. But anyways that's all changed now lol. If you have any questions about clicker training you can PM me. I've been a dog trainer for about 5 years now so I can tell you the do's and don'ts when it comes to the clicker :)
