Hey everybody, my male ambanja's(clyde) eyes are really dry and im having trouble finding saline drops. i was wondering if i could use something like "clear eyes" from the grocery store to moisten them? He is currently using medicated drops the vet perscribed, but i think they are drying out his eyes, and his eye lids.

Could you not just increase the humidity in his environment?
I think things like "clear eyes" contain chemicals and preservatives, not just saline solution.

I am interested cause I have been wresling with this issue with my sambava for about a year off and on.
seems like the skin (scales) covering the eye is just dry and hazy.

The stuff that is marketed as "Artificial Tears" or whatever should all be safe to use. Also, Bausch and Lomb makes a product called Sterile Eye Wash that is great to have on hand for chameleons and their occasional eye problems. Clear Eyes is for use with contact lenses. I wouldn't use it on lizards.
