I was just excited, so wanted to post;)...I got a floramax light with matching hood to keep my plants in Loki's cage beautiful and since I wanted to eventually add my orchid to Loki's enclosure..I can't wait until it comes on tomorrow! I got a light strip with timers built in for all the lights and got it hooked up without waking him up somehow lol ( I couldn't wait until tomorrow lol):p That is all!!

Cool:D I have been trying to find one for months. Where did you get it? How much? Could you post a link?;)

I don't know anything about that bulb linked, but its an aquarium bulb and usually plant grow lights for aquariums are over 6500k. All you need is a 6500k from walmart/lowes for a good grow light. The fact that brand of light does not list its kelvin ratings = I wouldn't touch it sorry but thats not good, you could be getting some 10000k or 8000k kelvin and be ultra purple or a 3000k or something.

That's what I got. A 2-pack for $9.98? ;)

They have some dirt cheap ones at walmart.. 24" light and fixture for $10

That's not a good grow light either sorry, you want a 5000k - 6500k kelvin rating on your grow lights. Little known fact that a "grow light" is usually more costly than a natural daylight 6500k light and inferior to the natural daylight bulbs. But they sell them to ppl like crazy because they are labeled grow lights, and unless your doing some hydroponics in the closet and using 3 other kelvin rated lights to stimulate the sun rising noon and setting... you just need a 6500k light.

You do not need a specific brand light. You need one that matches the fixture you are using and it needs to be a 6500k light bulb.

If you get the 4 ft fixture like Maxx got at wallyworld then you need a 4ft t8 6500k and your uvb needs to be a 4ft t8. You have to match the bulb to the fixture t5, t8, etc...

If you are looking for a 24/2ft dual light it will cost more than a 4ft light, crazy i know! I bought my 24 hood from diycages.com and then bought a 2 t8 6500k bulbs online @ 1000bulbs.com:

24" dual t8 Fixture

24" t8 6500k bulb

Amazingly the 2 bulbs arrived safe and sound! I bought 2 because 24" t8's in 6500k are not as easy to find as the 48" versions and I did not need a 48" at that time.

Thanks so much for the link to the 2ft dual bulb system Wykd!! I already ordered lol- I have been using a 4ft t5 system for indoor plants designed for hydroponic use. Bulky and expensive but great quality. I couldn't find any 2ft dual bulb systems anywhere!! Great price too! Walmart scares me for grow lights as it has been very rare for me to find any kelvin readings listed. They just say grow, aquarium etc.. Which can encompass a whole range of readings. Thanks again

np and the fixture fits perfectly over the 2x2x4 enclosure, it has a small lip on the bottom that you can tightly fit on the outer diameter of the enclosure which snugs it down to the enclosure.

I got it from petco, here's some URL's from the website:

This one is the bulb:

It's for fresh water plant growth, so I figured it would be good :D
