I was just curious what everyone uses to prevent getting water all over the floor from mistings. My initial thought was using plastic sheets for interior painting, but it didn't seem too practical. Maybe making some sort of plexiglass "funnel" into the tree's pot?

Input greatly appreciated. :)

I have a table where all my plants sit on that I built that funnels the water into a hole in the center and it drips into a bucket. This has been the easiest method for me, since I rent a place with carpet.

Is it a lot of water? I mist for nearly an hour each day, so I have gallons of water go through the FR each day. So that can help in brainstorming an idea for you. How big is the FR area?

My mistings usually last about 5-10 minutes, by hand, about 3-5 times daily. I have a rather tall ficus that about reaches the ceiling, away from the room light fixture. it's a very upward growing tree so it doesn't occupy a very large sq-footage, maybe 2 1/2' x 2 1/2'.

I will take some pics here in a min of the setup, and then my funnel idea.

I used a plastic tubberwear and cut off the top half to create a pan. Then I used a hole in one corner to make drain to the water reservoir underneath. Check out my album photos.

That's a good idea, perhaps you can look into getting something like one of those plastic storage bins, like the flat ones, or the concrete mixing pans. And either find a way to drain that, or just mop it all up at the night of the day.

^^^I plan to cut these into trapezoids to create sort of a slight pyramid-like shape

That could totally work. And it also serves to keep the cham and insects in the tree.

My thoughts as well. I'll begin construction today :)
(also considering tacking plastic sheets up on the walls to drain down into the funnel to protect the walls...?)
