anyone free range their silkworms?

thinking about thowing them in the cage before work and letting her find them. right now i come home from work and put a couple worms on a branch and watch her to see if she eats them all.

any thoughts or suggestions?

my chamy is a little skiddish and runs and hides when i come into the room(i must watch her from the couch with binoculars!!!lol)
also she sometime cup feeds but not always, depends on her mood.

I just place them on the branches and the chams find them. I wouldn't put a ton in there-they can and do overeat!

so i guess i can put a couple on a branch and leave em huh? i just didnt want the worms to fall and go hide in my plants and what not.

They move pretty slow and always seem to go up in the cage rather than down. They rarely make it off my hand when I feed them to my chams!

Yeah I've noticed when I put silkies on a branch or leaf they tend to fall off rather quickly, but are better at climbing the screen. The moths will hang on to branches well though, as will Hornworms.

I usually watch until my cham eats them. One time when I went to do something and came back it was gone so I thought he ate it. A long time later I found a cocoon between two leaves. So I guess that silkie pulled a Houdini.

great ideas, yeah she dont eat them outa the dish but from branches so far. im gonna try puttin them on the screen today. thanks.

Not unless your chams are afraid of the things like mine are you should have no problems putting them on the branches and such...my life would be easier if my chams would eat more then just crickets. I have one going through a hunger strike right now and wants nothing to do with horn worms or silkworms or supers....he will eat the occasional cricket but nothing more. When I put one in the cage they move away from them no matter what the sizes are. Oh the joy of owning Chameleons!
