For information on Specs's condition and health form: https://www.chameleonforums.com/specs-seems-going-downhill-please-help-80665/
Ive been getting some donations here and there and my brother would be able to take me. Its ridiculous, though. The ONLY place in my entire area that actually does treatment for chams is in my states capital. Ive called around to at least 8 or 9 different vets, only a couple of them do exotics and the ones that did said that it would be a waste of money taking them there only to be referred to go to the place that can actually treat them. All the local vets can do is tell me what I already know and what the problem is.
The place im taking him is going to cost an arm and a leg though.. for an exotic exam, bloodwork, and x-rays, its going to cost $250-300. Thats not including the actual treatment. :/
Now... for the other information I found out:
Specs's lower half of his body is paralyzed. Its slightly darker than his front half, and he isnt using his back legs or tail. Its very sad to watch.. he more than likely has a spinal cord problem from falling, it probably isnt impact. I learned more about it from this thread:
https://www.chameleonforums.com/help-back-legs-not-moving-8773/
The cham in this thread ended up passing away, and some of the people plus the vet recommended putting him down.
However... I havent lost all hope just yet. He can still move his legs a little and can grip with his back feet. The end of his tail is still working, about an inch and a half through and he still uses it to grasp. He just cant roll it up all the way like he used to do when he goes to sleep. Hes still eating, although admittedly it looks like a little less than before but not by much.
Would anyone have any further advice I could use on how to go about caring for him while I wait to take him to the vet? I had thought about putting him in a smaller cage for a while to see if he can get better..
