i have a male jackson and im trying to attact them to my yard. a few years ago we found a huge one about a foot and half long with its tail he was amazing

There on the island! Best of luck finding them and wow the one you had found a few years ago was pretty big for a jackson!

i have a huge old bath tub would this be good to put crickets in to attract the jacksons? ive also been watering the shrubs and trees surrounding my house ive seen alot of anoles and the gold dust gecko( the geicko gecko lol) but idk how to go about feeding the jackson i put mealworms in a jar lid for the lizards they seem to like it :D

I think the geckos and anoles will get to your crix before the jacks could get there. Give it a try and keep use posted. You are very lucky to live where you do and have wild chams and gold dust running around. I would kill to live in HI! Do you live near the ocean?

I am not sure the bathtub idea would work real well. However it never hurts to try:) Maybe if you put it at the bottom of some trees and replace the crix everyday.

Did you find the jacksons near your house? If so or you know where to find more you could always go find a few and put them in your yard. I would think a more natural approach would be best to try and make them want to stay in your territory. You could always use feeding stations (deli cups in the trees) but starting a garden might prove to be more effective or even potted plants in certain locations. Use various native plants that will attract various native insects. You could even put potted plants in the trees providing they are a shade species;) Once you get your yard attracting all kinds of creepy bugs transplant a few animals in there and see if they stay. You are already spraying down the shrubs and trees so that should be a part of keeping them happy. You could also maybe use honey or something else sweet and sticky to wipe on trees and attract insects. It would be a lot of research picking what plants to use but fun research.

Good luck!

yeah i lived in las vegas for 8 years for high school and somce college but decide to move back to hawaii to get closer to my family here. i do live very close to the ocean the north shore is 5 mins away :D. but while in las vegas i owed a pair of veilded chams and a female jackson but never got into it like how i am now. im looking into herptoligy :D i love reptiles ive have fat tailed geckos, salamanders, crested and leaf tail gecko also :D.. my grandpa has a a punch of planted plants i have a mountain apple tree in my jackson cage right now, however he has papaya, guava, mango, lilikoi, lychee, and many other fruit trees planted around are house and down by the lake.
i really want to start to breed my male and let the babies grow then put them into my backyard i wouldnt want to relocate them from there home unless it benefits them like i did with my male. but i will keep you posted im going to put honey on some branches now :D
