Girlfriend's flapneck not looking good

I've been watching over my girlfriend's cham for the past week. When she left he was blowing tiny bubbles out of his mouth. He has seemed completely disinterested in food all week and would not drink at all. On Christmas eve I thought he was a gonner for sure. weak and weezy, He would take a deep labored breath and exhale as hard as he could. wobbly and awkward on the branch. Until that night I took a hands off approach I know handling him too much will stress him out. He also hates being misted. He's set up on a "little dripper". Since then I bought some smaller crickets to try to entice him, and began watering him with a syringe. He still didn't eat so I thought I'd better do something or he'll starve. I ground up some of the larger gut loaded crickets and fed them to him through the syringe. BTW he hated this, but I did manage to get some nutrients down his little hatch. His head turned completely black and there was much labored hissing. But the hissing sounds wet. I'm afraid he has a respiratory infection. I raised the basking temp in his cage so because I read you should do so for sick chams. I think we are going to take him to the vet tomorrow, does anyone know what I can expect to pay?

sounds like a really bad URI (upper respiratory infection) good, i see you're taking him to the vet. i dont think it should cost too much but idk because ive never had to deal with it.

hi,

my cam was ill & he was back & forth to the vet for over a week - its not cheap, i paid just under £400
But, then it will depend on what he will need done, my cam was in hospital for 2 days which bumped the price up.
i
s he insured?

where do you live?

yeah a vet visit is in definet need, when one of my pet-store rescue chams had MBD the vet bill was $180 i believe, and that was with the calcium shots and such, i dont think it will be that bad

Cost will very much depend where you live.
Costs me quite a bit just to show up to the vet. I dont think I've ever walked away with less than a $100 bill, usually it's much more.
Nevertheless, it is necessary to be prepared to pay if one is a responsible pet owner / caregiver.
