Gout?

Yesterday my girl tucked herself into bed about a hour and a half early. She just got all snuggled up, watched me and looked around until lights went out.
Does your boy ever close his eyes when lights are on?
Yeah. He's been doing that off and on for a long time though. Usually I think it's cause he didn't get enough water or something. If I drip it near him sometimes he drinks it.

How early is normal?
My boy will be 6 in June. I have noticed as he has gotten older he beds down about 30 minutes earlier than he used to in his first few years. But basically anywhere from an hour and a half to 2 hours prior to his lights kicking off he will move into a sleeping spot in his plants.

Not normal signs would be closing their eyes during the day. Like laying on a basking branch under lights and closing their eyes off and on. That is a sign something is off.

He now sits on a vine closer to bottom of his cage. Hasn't gone up to bask in a while. His colors are kinda dark and faded at times. Still eats if I bring food to him though. He stays there all day and sleeps there.

Do you live anywhere that is getting warmer temps outside yet? If this is more winter blues then sometimes they will perk up if they get some outside time in the sun. As long as your hitting temps are in the 60's and full sun it is normally quite a bit warmer in the sun so they can be outside.

Anything new in the cage? Did you add a bigger plant to hold more water from him to drink from?

Should I still take him outside?
If it was a nice sunny day it would be worth a try. But honestly vet would be my next steps... Blood work can determine everything from if there is an organ function issue to if he has an infection in the body. Since your concern originally was gout the only way to know for sure is blood work.

I feel like he's done this routine in the past and eventually gone back to normal

83 where he's at rn. Still going up the longer I leave the thermometer though. I think that's due to the thermometer absorbing some of the heat so idk how accurate it is. It's up to 85.5 now but it's been there for 16 minutes.

What wattage bulb are you using for heat? I would recommend putting in a permanent temp gauge with probe for basking spot. this will give you a way to consistently be sure it is on point. What is the temp in your house right now? Your cage will be pulling that ambient house temp roughly the same.
