Hope thats just a snack. I know some people feed their lizards wild caught food, but im always worried about parasites (gee that one was easy to catch, wonder if it was sick?). I wont even feed mine pinkies unless they are from the freezer.

Then again they do sell feeder geckos and anoles.

I was not expecting that.

I hope that you don't feed him like that often. It is very difficult to digest and can cause health issues.

Not lecturing. Just throwing that out there just in case you didn't know.

Chameleons making a meal out of vertebrates happens occasionally in the wild however it is definitely not typical food for captivity. With mantis being a controversial food item in captivity geckos are going to be and even more controversial one. It is most probably not necessary to occasionally feed geckos to Veiled Chameleons to keep them in good health.

You should try dubia roaches instead of geckos, they are healthier and won't get you a rep on the forum :)

Sorry to those I offended. It was a house gecko I picked up for 2 dollars as a feeder at the reptile show today. Just trying to get that natural variety in I got the idea I
From a video I saw on here.. He LOVED it hunting that fast gecko.he a tally had quite a day crickets lobster roaches house gecko and strawberries.

I find that very sad feeding one lizard to another.

That is horrible!! You should warn people. I did not know it was your chameleon eating a gecko.

I don't understand what is so bad about this. Every once and a while, sure, give him a gecko or a pinkie!

Won't kill him to give him a treat every once in a while.

And this is chameleonforums.com and the title clearly says "his first gecko" so what else would you expect? :p

Not trying to be a debbie downer, but I don't understand why people give others such a hard time about this.

Cool pics btw. Just don't feed him geckos like that all the time or like others said it may cause issues.

Eh, feeders are feeders.

I think maybe the forum should have people tag their threads with all this controversy going on. Like tag it [FEEDER GECKO] or [FEEDER MANTIS] at the end.

Too much work. But people don't have to look at the poor gecko unless they want.

No more because they are beloved by everyone. When most keepers look at them they think something neat and cool not something that is a food item for a chameleon.

I think Dubia's are pretty awesome, my roommates and I even named one and marked her! So that we would never feed her off :) lol!
