He is about 9 months now he is in a 24x24x48 has 2 live plants at the base.

My questions are,
I see all your amazingly colored chams climbing about their cages and mine does not show his colors like that. why is he always darkish green with his hints of orange. while in his cage???

The other pic where I'm holding him, those are his colors now when hes out of the cage.

I just don't understand why everyone else's looks so vibrant and colorful in their cages and mine does not.

Your cage looks wonderful :D I have no clue why he wouldn't fire up at the sight of that :p

He is a beautiful cham though.

What are the temps at? My bearded dragon darkens up when he is trying to get warmer. Could be that he is trying blend better too possibly. I am by far no expert but those would be my 2 guesses.

You have to remember that those vibrant colors you see are usually the result of a cham who is somewhat flared up, either angry, scared, in a mating mood, trying to look tough, etc. Usually a relaxed, healthy cham will not be as crazily colored. They do change based on temperature as well. If he is cold, he will go darker to try and absorb more heat. What are your temps?

thank you everyone for responding. as for temps my digital thermometer/humidity gauge I have from when I used to grow always reads around 85-90s on "outside mode"inside mode is 67+..... But my zoomed direct point thermo gauge says 95+ even in the 100s at times so im unsure exactly on temps. But he has a 100w MVB and a 100w heat bulbe working in the double bubble light system. He just went for dubia roach crawling up the screen and went all light orange/yellow with his red spots. so i guess it just what ever he wants to be at times. Im in Chicago and its fairly cold,, come summer time i'm moving him out on our screened in porch for some humidity and heat.
