im sorry but i've done my research on chams before i got one and almost everything your telling me i found rather opposite answers for all my stuff and i found it on multiple websites ( not to offend you or to be mean)
Try not to be discouraged by the misinformation out there.

Chameleons seem to be pretty easy to take care of and hardy if their basic needs of housing/shelter, diet, lighting, temperature, and humidity are taken care of. However, when they’re not given these basic needs they can quickly become sick or die.

There’s lots of experienced and helpful people on this site that can assist you in making the correct choices for your Cham. Find someone on here you can discuss this stuff with. @MissSkittles is frequently helping new owners.

I highly recommend this site. Bill Strand goes through every aspect of their care and seeks to help keepers understand why each aspect is important
 
i would say get a t5 HO fixture 24 inch long. and get either the 6 percent t5 bulb or the 5.0 t5 bulb (the bulb will have to be 22 inches long)
