Hanging Limbs?

Need some advice and ideas. I'm thinking of hanging some 6' to 8' tree limbs long ways from the ceiling since I'm limited on space. This way the chams have a "limb gym" and can't climb down to the ground. The limbs will have multiple limbs attached. What would be the best way to do this?

I made one of these for a friend of mine, what worked for her was I took some fishing line, tied it tight on the branch, and then made a loop on one end of the line. Then with a J-hook screwed into the ceiling I hooked it on. If you do decided to do this then make sure the line is very short from the branch to the hook so it doesn’t swirl around like crazy. Good luck!

What if you took a J hook and put that into the ceiling. Then put a cpl of eye bolts in the limbs and hang them from the eye bolts on the j hooks. I wanna see your final pics of this project. That seems like a good idea for a free range area with out worrying about the chams getting into trouble or getting stepped on accidentally.

That could work. I was thinking about getting some hemp rope and inner twining it through some branches and then bringing it up and tie on the J hook on each end of the limb and maybe one in the middle. Saltwaterguy, thanks for the tip about the limbs swaying around.

Donna the little mellers isn't even there yet and you are already designing a home, way to go girl!!

Just a couple of ideas, get one large branch for the 'anchor' piece. If you can get one nearly as long as your free range area with several branches coming out of it. Anchor this to the ceiling really well and sort of build out from it. That is part of what I once planned to do:( before I gave up the idea of a mellers. We took a about an 8 ft branch, cut off all limbs going toward the ground, used the ones going up. Worked some large bio vine, lots of different sizes of branches a couple of old tie downs (mesh, nylon ?? not sure what they are made of) bought for the back of hubby's pick up, lots of fishing line wrapping the joints reforced with hot glue, and attached several places to the wall.

Mine you after building this I never used it (hubby not happy he had it build it 'for nothin') because i decided on using the space for quads & jacksons.

LOL, Laurie it's for Rocko, baby melleri will have to wait till he/she is out of diapers :D. He loves his limb gym but since I moved I have less room and I don't want him to be able to crawl on the ground. I'm thinking of throwing out all the furniture and sleeping in a hammock ! Great ideas though, thanks.:)
