I ordered a few a lot actually for the chams well they’ll get a few treats out of them, most are for my children's butterfly garden that I let them release. Just wonder how many of you have and plan to do this.:)

All I will say is get out of the way when you feed them or your chams may knock you down getting to the butterfly's. Just don't ever feed monarch butterflys, they are poison.

Just to diverge on a brief tangent - Monarchs feed on milkweed, and are therefore rendered noxious to would-be consumers. However, some birds will eat them, and my panther chameleon, McGinty, grabbed one last year before I knew what was happening and chomped it down without suffering ill effect. So - I wouldn't feed them Monarchs, or encourage them to eat them, but don't have a heart attack if it happens.

Thanks to the pair of you I am only feeding painted lady’s around this time each your which is a rare treat. My children have a butterfly garden from my sweat blood, and tears. Each year we hatch painted ladies for their garden (or so they think they’ll stay there) I just learned that my chams can enjoy some to. THANKS;)

I've set up a night sheet/light trap and I collect and feed moths. Same sorta katy-bar-the-door feeding reaction that laurie is describing for butterflies.

They are great! I bred them last year to sell (for extremely cheap might I add) but everyone thought they were too expensive! I believe it was like $8 for a cup of 15. Try getting them at those prices anywhere! I'm breeding some differernt butterflies this year and may sell them again.

I bought painted lady butterflies from www.educationalscience.com (the reptile cups) thinking that my Panther would love them. He goes nuts for silkworm moths, so why not?

Well, he just..didn't. I was very surprised. I let one loose in the cage and he didn't pay it any mind. It was only when I held the butterfly in my hand and it wriggled its legs and wings that my Panther took notice. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Am I the only one who had their butterflies crash into all the vines and plants in the chameleon cage? I thought they would fly around, but instead they just crashed to the bottom of the cage.

Anyways, I'm going to order them again soon to see if maybe I was doing something wrong.

To Pssh: What kind of butterflies to you plan on breeding? I do not know much about them, but anything that is brightly colored (green? yellow? blue?) would be amazing. I feel the painted ladies are a bit too small and not colorful enough. They are too rust-like in color.
Is there such thing as a smaller sized Blue Morpho? :D

Cmon, you know you want to be my butterfly hook-up :p

Yeah I fed some painted ladys to Samson, I bought them offa Pssh last year some time. Samson went nuts for them and it was so cool to see him with huge wings hanging out of his mouth.

Pssh: You get more butterflies and you have an order from me. :)

I'm attempting to get mydarn red admirals to lay but they wont. I also have some P. brassicae that are eclosing as we speak. They should be ready soon. I'm working on an artificial diet for them so it's easier for everyone. I might just breed more painted ladies if the red admirals wont lay. I will also have giant silkworms eventually.

Yeah pssh count me in for some butterflies too! I have some hornworm pupa right now I am anxiously awaiting there arrival. And how nice Kansas, the butterfly garden, I have been wanting to do something like that . Do you have it enclosed or not?
