Hatch Day is upon me!

Well, for the past 76 days my R. viridis chameleons have been incubating and today is the day they start to hatch! Only one has dented and pipped out so far. Hoping to come home from work tonight to a tiny little baby out of the egg!

Please excuse the bad everything about this photograph. It was a quick shot with my iPhone.

Thank you. I'm thinking they will all hatch from when I last candled there was a baby in each egg moving around. :) I'll post some update pictures over the next week as they hatch out and start to settle in.

Congratulations! Good luck with the rest. Candling the eggs and watching the eggs develop is a neat deal. However it has got to be difficult to candle a pygmy egg.

It was tricky, you have to be super still and careful. The little one has emerged since I got got home, but not moving. I'm hoping it didn't pass away. I set it up in a small little warm container with a damp paper towel for the night to see if anything changes. He still has quite a bit of yolk left on him so I'm hoping for the best. None of the other eggs appear to be hatching at this time.

I've only read one other thread that has incubated them and hatched them out. It's a shame that there isn't more information on this incredible species. Care is identical to R. brevicaudatus, and incubation was at 76 degrees F (room temp). The first hatchling incubated for 76 days and the rest are currently incubating. I am guess it takes normally 90 - 100 days of incubation. However the thread I have read (which I will link below) stated his incubated somewhere around 88 days.
