HELP!!! Eye problem with Simba!!!

That sounds good!! Hopefully his eye will get back to normal.:)
What kind of eye drops have you been using?

They are an antibiotic/steroid combination called maxitrol.

Got the 3 lots in today, but vet said if too stressful reduce to twice a day which I'm goin to do coz he doesn't like being handled. Gapes hisses and had a little go at biting my finger too bless him, settles down as I'm putting the drops in and boy is he happy to go back in! Lol

He's made such an improvement I'm sure twice a day will still do the job.

I just can't believe the difference already!

Goin to put his new vines in tomorrow as hubby still not home with them plus it's simbas bed time soon.

Got some pics this morning and tonight. Will upload them now x

Sounds like Simba is not the only one who is going to have a nice night sleep!;-)
Delighted for you! Waiting to see the pictures!:)

Thankyou!! I'm just so pleased he's getting better, I already know he hates me!! LOL!!! :D

Here's the pics

Will keep you posted this week. As you know he was having trouble feeding so hopefully, now the swelling his gone down, he'll be able shoot his tongue more acurately. So weird when he shot my hand instead of the morio at the weekend. Sticky lil tongue!! Funny!!

He's so cute. The more he hates me, the more I love him!! :D

Glad to see his eyes looking normal again. Some of those pictures looked really uncomfortable for him - poor guy.

Both of my chams have those Exo-Terra vines in their vivs - I may take them out now after seeing this thread. Although they've had them months without any issues so far.

I'm wondering whether your guy was having some kind of allergic reaction to them.

:)Thanks Tiff!! :)

He's stunning when he's hunting...thats when he's happiest!! LOL

I've taken his feeder bowl out as he's never fed from it. Seems to prefer the hunt so the locusts get dusted then flung in on the leaves!!

Will try n get some nice hunting ones when he's back to his old self :)

Other than his eyes, do you think he looks ok in general. Size/bulk etc. for his age (14 months)

I'm probably not the best person to ask, lol, as I've never seen an adult Panther in real life! He looks good to me though, I have only ever seen baby Panthers at the Portsmouth Show. I think a Panther male is next on my list though!:D

I know, they looked like they were going to pop at times!!!

I had those exo terra vines in since I got him a year ago!!! Only recently had this problem, but as Tiff said, they degrade and fall to bits, and quite frankly are a pain in the a*** to clean and dry because of it!! The gritty coating was definitely getting on his skin so MUST have been getting in his eyes, or maybe the adhesive used to make them perhaps was what he was reacting to?? Constantly getting wet must have made them gradually degrade over time. I have to say, I was so worried about Simba, I wouldn't recommend them now!!

Who knows 100% tho??? All I know is that I took them out last night and he's looking so much better today. Maybe it was the vines, maybe the antibiotics/steroid drops have helped treat an infection???

I've got the Lucky Reptile rubber ones to go in tomorrow, so even when he rubs his eyes on them when shedding, no little bits can get in his eyes now.

I'm also going to get him a new mister bottle as this one has decided to split!

Will post pics when they're in :)

None will be as cute as Monty!!! I want to shower him with kisses and cuddles!! He's like a little dinosaur and I laugh whenever I see his scrumptious little face!!

Thanks hun x

He Looks Awsome!!

wow he has improved soo much. When my little one tink had this I removed the vines and just used saline water and then put the cream on her eye. usally I didnt have to take her out of the tank unless she was moving away too much. I would have everything ready before I opened her enclosure and grasped her jaw lightly and put her cream on. and I used hers twice a day too and it cleared up in 2 days. She wasnt very fond of me at the time either which sucked. but she did warm back up to me. I think in a way she knows it helped her. I am so glad he is better. He is very beautiful too by the way. :D

Awww, thanks! I think Monty secretes magic from those horns! Everyone loves the tiny dinosaur!

I hope that you can administer the eye drops without too much stress for either of you. He looks a lot better already though! Who'd have thought that vines made for reptiles could cause so much bother?! I won't be buying those again, the rubber ones are much better!

Simba looks great. Just a little loose skin from where his eyes were swollen.

Put his Lucky Reptile vines in tonight, then took a little vid of him climbing back up home. He went straight up behind his bedtime plant:

So relieved, he's obviously feeling much better!! LOL

Think I'll give him another days worth of drops, then leave him be. He definitely would rather be left to life in his jungle after all of this attention I'm sure!!

Hoping to get a silkworm supply sorted for him, so I might have a go at persuading him I'm not all bad in a few days, after he recovers!! LOL

Gotta love that little man!! xx

:(SIMBA IS NOT RIGHT!! :confused::(:eek:

Eyes still REALLY swollen when I just went home for lunch. Worse than before.

I tried feeding him some morios. He must have shot at them a dozen times AND HE MISSED EVERY TIME!!! He's shooting too far to the right :(:(

Reptile vet we saw yesterday has a weekend off so they have given me the number for another vets who apparently keep reptiles themselves and have done for years!! I'm waiting for them to call me back.

I'm so worried :(

Answers to questions:

I change UV every 6 months and have just changed it this morning as it was due a change this month.

I use pre boiled and cooled water to mist and in his dripper.

I gave his enclosure a really good clean but he seems worse than before.

There has to be something wrong with him for him to miss that many times in a row when feeding!!! I will post the pics I took when I get home from work.

And I'll let you know what the other vet says.

I wish they'd hurry up and call I'm so worried I could cry!! :(

me to! i dont trust vets, infact i trust you guys way more! in montreal the only vet is like 2 hours away!! and she is useless its almost as if she makes up things!! ughhh this is my vet.. i just go there for certain medications

I'm not sure yet Tiff. Hoping the lack of swelling will mean he can focus right.

He's had locusts in there for a couple of days but not shown any interest so I took them out before I changed his vines tonight.

I think he's a bit out of sorts with all this moving about so going to keep misting him so he's kept hydrated, then try feeding him either tomorrow or Friday. He's had quite the ordeal over the past few days.

I'm pleased to find he seems to like his new comfy, spongy vines.

So much so......

He's like a lil ghost cham...too cute!!

Sweet dreams gorgeous boy xxx

Awww, bless him! Those vines look so much nicer than the other type! He looks rather comfy there, bless him! The only thing I found with them is thinking there is poop on them when it's just an irregular lump of rubber!
