Unfortunately it looks like a burn. This happens from your cham being able to get too close to the heat bulb, which is too hot. Keep the area clean and dry because secondary infections from bacteria and fungus can easily start where the tissue has been damaged by the burn. Also you need to make sure this can't happen again by changing the lighting situation. What are you current basking temperatures under his basking bulb? The bulb will need to be changed for one that is not as hot, or elevated above the cage more so he can't get burned again.

thank you

i have a 100 watt basking heat bulb and it was temporary just cliped onto the top of his cage and it is a very larg cage just so you no all details its about 5 feet tall 2 feet deep and 4 feet long/ left to right . it is a big bird cage its great i love it but i thought that it could be a burn but i was not positave .
so i noticed it cracked open i put just a litle bit of a AnD on it i was worried about infection so now what do you sugggest i do to prevent any infections or fungus from starting.i have been searching and i can never find a straight answer on the net so thanks a bunch i knew this w ould be the place to get answers

P.S i have already moved my lights up

If it is a burn and your boy is off colour or you suspect an infection I would suggest a visit to a vet. My boy had a burn to his belly and the only thing I noticed was a change in his colour and the obvious skin change on the burn site. I did eventually take him to the vet for treatment and he is fine now. However 6 months later his skin is still marked and it may take a few sheds more to bring it back to normal. You may see discolouration of the skin but you don't know what damage has been done under the skin and the longer you leave it the longer it may take to heal.

40-60 watt is all a panther should need. anything more is to hot I'd say.
neosporin(sp?) might help the burn.

100 watt can be used but it really depends on your house temps, and other conditions such as how far up the bulb is suspended and how far down your basking branch is located. Post of a pic of your entire cage and we will try and help you get it set up right. I use 75 watt bulb laying straight on the screen top for my panthers and I have never had one issue with burns.
