HELP --- She won't dig!

I checked her just now, her light is off plus she's sleeping. There may be a slight ditch...but I don't know if she's dug or not. :)

No progress so far....she's due any time soon according to the rough dates...30 days after mating will be tomorrow! X

I did a quick test and put her near him (through the glass obviously, didn't want anyone to get hurt!) and he went puffy and light browny yellow....she went dark green with black spots. I took the hint and moved her away immediately!

When did you do the above? Today?

No, Thursday :)

As said before many times in this thread, please leave her alone at this time. I understand your need to see her lay but the constant disturbance could put her off and she will become egg bound and you may loose her. You shouldn't have long to wait now, just try to be patient. It will be worth it in the end.:)

Leave her alone for a few days. I'm not for sure but I think that there is a color change & she won't look as big. But the way you will know for sure is when you dig up the eggs. But leave her alone except for misting and feeding. Give her as much privacy as possible. Don't mess with her at all for like a week. If you stress her too much she will refuse to lay and become egg bound and die.

Trust the breeders who have answered you, they are all very smart and have done this many times. Everything will be fine.:)

I am also really glad that StickyPad has toughed it out in asking questions. I am a herper who has, until this past week, done lots of snake rescues, along with a few turtle and fire-bellied toad rescues. NEVER had a chameleon--and as of this past Tuesday, I have a calcium-deficient and egg-bound veiled cham! I started a thread about her (https://www.chameleonforums.com/im-sucker-orphan-rescuing-veiled-cham-please-help-103454/), but I've also learned a lot by reading through this thread in addition to the husbandry guides here.

Thanks for all your patience, and remember, "The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked!" That one question could have made all the difference, but if someone becomes apprehensive about asking questions because they're worried about being blasted, then they might not ask that all-important key question.

Thanks again!

Hey, i read on the internet that when they are close to laying eggs they will refuse to eat, so i don't think it's a bad sign, but I'm not experienced, i just read a lot about them, cause I'm also in the same boat as you are, my chameleon is digging though but not laying any eggs, but anyway, i don't think there is a prob if she's not eating!

I always leave mine inside its regualr cage and just add the laying bin. It does not need to be as big as you have it either. I use a pot at is about 12 inches around.

Okay I checked her while she was still asleep and it looks like all her tummy is thin at the top and enormous at the bottom! I have attached a pic. Is she almost ready?
