How do you set up a live plant for a veiled chameleon?

Im getting a new screen cage soon for my new veiled chameleon. Also im getting a live plant (pothos) can you please tell me how to do it all?

The way I have my spiderplant is I have a large one under his drip system and a small one by where he's fed and you gotta have a basking point 4-5inches away from the light so he gets just warm enough but doesn't get burnt

When you get the plant make sure you wash it to get off any chemicals fertilizer off the leaves also you're going to want to report it and add some big river rocks so you chameleon can not eat the dirt

I meant how do you setup the plant (like what soil to use) and stuff also when you re pot it, Do you need to clean the roots and the bit of the plant that pant goes into the soil?

I don't clean my roots off I just repot it in organic potting soil and put rocks on top hope that helps

So i give my plant a wash then i repot it with organic potting soil then i should be done? Also how should i wash it and should i use organic top soil for the top?

Just one more thing, can i just use something like eco earth or plantation soil instead of using organic potting soil for my plant?

I can't help but inject a little humor into this one. To answer your question:
Step 1: Get plant.
Step 2: Ensure safety.
Step 3: Put said plant into enclosure.
Step 4: Put chameleon into enclosure.
Step 5: Enjoy watching a happy cham.
:ROFLMAO::LOL:;)
(I'm sorry, but I just had to!)

You can use any soil you want, if it's covered. Washing the plant is an excellent idea and one can use a couple tablespoons of murphys oil soap and/or Rid Lice shampoo to remove both pests and pesticides residues. Add the ingredients to a 32 ounce sprayer of warm water, spray all over the plant, let sit 20-40mins, rinse until all suds and smell are gone.

Many growers (nursery where your plant was grown) employ systemic pesticides, that cannot be washed away and these are inside the plant tissues. They become inactive after a maximum of 4 months, but since people aren't experiencing dead chameleons and the most commonly used systemic is relatively safe for vertebrates, I wouldn't worry. I just pointed it out, because people always assume the worse about everything and think organic soil solves all problems, when in reality a good all purpose mix, with plenty of perlite is better for a wet environment.

Sorry for keep going on, its just that i really want the best for my chameleon and i am ocd about it all. I just want my little chameleon to be safe thats all

Perlite is an inert, white, volcanic stone. It's is very light weight and is used to aerate the soil and prevent it from compacting and suffocating the roots. 50/50 soil to perlite is a good start for a healthy plant, especially if the plant will be kept wet at all times due to misting/dripping.
