How much time per day do you spend with or around Your Chameleon?

People are always asking how to “tame” their chameleon and I would imagine the amount of time you are around yours relates to the level of trust it has for you. So I’m curious to hear how much time members spend with their Cham and the trust level they have. Personally, I leave for work when his lights are coming on and I get home about an hour before they shut off. We have almost no time together and there is almost no trust. He hates me lol

I don’t spend that much as I work to much
But as soon as I get home he wants out
Loves to walk around on my arms and explore.

How did you get to this point with him. My guy can’t wait to get out, but wants to on his own. He hisses if I try to help

I spend a lot of my evenings just sitting in my reptile room. All of my chameleons expect food from me and are usually begging. When someone else comes down into my reptile room my chameleons will go hide except my female panther... she poofs up all angry like.

I’ve only had him for about a month and a half
I kinda left him alone for the first week or so. Then he eventually would come to the front and just stare at me wanting out
Now he climbs right onto my arm as soon as I open the door

You got lucky to have such a trusting Cham lol mine is 7months old now. He’s been firstly since he was a baby. He used to squeak as a baby he would get so mad lol

Mood depends on the personality, your guy seems to just not like you, you probably did not let him eat enough hornworms! I personally hate it when I see a "How to Tame your Chameleon" on YouTube, and there is a bunch of comments form new keepers saying "Oh, you are so knowledgeable! I'm going to try this immediately!" when they post in the middle of the night, and the chameleon in the video was obviously not happy.

I personally hate it when I see a "How to Tame your Chameleon" on YouTube, and there is a bunch of comments form new keepers saying "Oh, you are so knowledgeable! I'm going to try this immediately!" when they post in the middle of the night, and the chameleon in the video was obviously not happy.

I was just curious to see if Chameleon’s who see their keepers and are around people more often tend to be more trusting. I don’t touch my guy because he puffs up as soon as I get close lol

I totally understand. My little guy was being kind of a mean little guy at first, but he got better. I can't really give you more advice than hand feed him more, which seems to give them the least stress than holding them every day, etc.

There's hope! My guy absolutely hated me until recently. I offered my hand every day and without fail he would hiss and try to bite it. I offered the back of my hand so his bites would not get purchase and actually hurt... eventually he became used to my hand being in there enough to accept a hornworm from the hand, so long as I didn't get close enough that he thought he needed to bite me. Still, he hated my guts, but he learned that A) I was annoying but not fatal, and B) sometimes there was good food attached to me. Then he went through puberty or something and that stage when he really wanted to wander, and I offered my hand at this point and he jumped on it. Sometimes he still hisses and makes like he wants to bite but it's half hearted and he still willingly climbs on me.
