I've used boric acid mixed with banana. Also heard that mixing the stuff with sugar and water works as well. It will wipe out your ant problem. It's not as effecient a killer as ant baits, which last months, but it works, and they won't get immune to it.

Terrible to read this. So sorry for you and your chameleons.

I agree with whoever suggested involving the parents of the one who you did catch. He might help ID the other kids. Humane Society and Police should be involved. Wouldnt there be finger prints on the tubs?

Perhaps this can serve as a difficult lesson against leaving animals unattended, or at least kept safe from idoits and crows, behind locked doors.

Pulling prints 1 is hard to do on most surfaces, and 2 only works if they are in the system for some prior reason (doesnt have to be illegal) Most of the time police will not use advanced technique unless its a criminal case in this experience its not just a misdemeanor, or a torte would be all this is. Larceny is not good either way

You can pull prints from the tub, then froom the suspected kid(s) and see if they match.

Pulling prints and keeping them on record would be a great idea. Set up security cameras for the future. That's my suggestion to you, and I hope it never happens again.

wow so sorry to hear this.... on a good note is that there is a good chance they can survive, i beleive there is wild populations of vieled now in florida. i dont beleive that they are too invasive... but then again that could end up being bad lol.

I'm so sry that this happened to you and your chams. I don't get why the police were not involved from the beginning, neighborhood association be damned. That would have been the first thing I would have done after telling that kid not to move an inch until they got there. Those kids need to be found and charged with trespassing, cruelty/abuse to animals, destruction of property and theft. If you don't do anything about it these kids are going to repeat something like this again, to you or some other poor soul and it could be worse. Go talk to the cop father and get some leads on these kids. I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing that these criminals are still roaming the neighborhood looking for stuff to mess up.

"I'll just check with the boys down at the Crime Lab. They've assigned four more detectives to the case, they got us working in shifts!"

you will not be able to pull prints from a tub in a humid environment with ant traffic. and how would you all suspect him to go about doing this he does not have the technology to do it. he would have to raise the print on the tube, and add dye to make it stand out then photograph it if the print even stuck. also you cant just take peoples finger prints and keep them thats totally against the law.

It is? why? you leave fingerprints all over the place. What is wrong with keeping them?

if you were to keep finger prints of other people you could be charged with conspiracy to commit a crime. of course if they were yours or your child that would be different

I am keeping finger prints of everyone who has been in my house since the last time I dusted... I hope I don't get charged with anything. If this really is this case I imagine it would require a lot more evidence of a conspiracy to commit some kind of crime than some prints you tried to salvage when your property was vandalized.

Also just for the record... I will never belong to an HOA... And if for some reason I ever do... It will be my sole task to make their their lives a living hell. I have heard some pretty absurd HOA stories.

I am a hermit and don't leave the house much... i dust my door handle all the time and lift the prints and keep them in a database of 'potential berglers' because whoever touches my door knob is checking to see if my door is unlocked... and will one day strike while I am away from my home...

That's funny! I love that film! Well, both of them actually! Anyway, off topic a bit, but I never used to lock my back door until a few years ago. My friend same round one day and we just walked round the back of the house to the garden and some evil person walked in and stole my handbag! I was right there!! Never heard a thing! Now my door is locked the whole time - even if someone comes round to read the gas meter, etc, the poor guy gets locked in! Must think I'm a mad woman! I learnt the hard way.
