so i have a 2 month old (roughly, thats what flchams said) veiled chameleon, and he's been acting cranky lately, is there anything i can do to make him less aggressive? is he not old enough to even be handled yet? if not how long should i wait? also, if he is, is there anything to do to make him like coming out more?(natural sunlight, food?) Im really anxious to hold him, and ive seen other people's veileds coming around, should i wait for mine?

ALSO -- he is just a plain, but nice colored green right now, what should i expect his colors to be? and how long until they come in?

any info is much appriciated! :D

Thanks in advance!

At 2 months old, your cham is still very tiny. Almost everything is considered a threat due to its size. I would wait until hes 3 almost 4 months old to handle him. It will take time.

okay, thanks for the advice, anything about the color issue? not trying to be greedy but im really curious :p

Within the next month or so you should start to see hints of his adult color pattern coming in. Another month or two after that and he should look pretty nice.

Hand feeding can help a lot with temperament. Eventually he will come hurrying to the front of the cage looking for a hand-out if you hand feed consistently for a while. Once that begins, you can begin coaxing him out of his cage and on to your arm with a little bribery, and go from there. Forcing the issue (reaching in and plucking him out of the cage) probably the worst way to go.

But don't hand feed until you've had him a couple of weeks at least so he has a chance to settle in...

I don't really know when vels colors come in but I would give it until he's about 4months. You will see basic color start to come in, depending on the vel.

You do realize you have a veiled, right?? Those dudes eat anything smaller than them that moves! They're probably the most ferocious of all chams...they will hiss and bite even if you spoil them rotten. If you wanted a more social cham, you might have tried a panther or a jackson...sorry! :(
