Hydration

Hello again forum! I wanted to know if having a small amount of yellow in the urate was common/acceptable? I mist my little guy 2-3 times a day (which he seems to hate) and I have a dripper going throughtout the day. I've read that the urate is suppose to be white, but I've noticed small amounts of yellow and an orange-ish color. Is my little man dehydrated? Also, I asked this before and I know that there are a lot of factors that make this a difficult question to answer but, judging by the pictures, can anyone give me an approximate age of my little guy?

Those colors are an indication of dehydration, but can be fixed.
Try using very warm water when misting, they seem to accept it a little better. Mist from above too.
Try feeders like silkworms, hornworms or Butterworms. They have alot of water, and other nutrition that is helpful.
Sometimes their fluid levels vary, but we do strive for "the whiter the better"!

Ok. Thank you! I did warm his water up a little this morning and he seemed a little more receptive.

His eye turrets appear full so its easily corrected. I got a fine syringe from my vet to inject the occasional treat worm with water to help hydrate. I do use hornworms none injected occasionally but there not very available as wax or meal worms. Don't inject to much maybe fill a worm every few days. at that age the right sized feeder will only hld a few drops of water
He appears to me about 2 to 2 1/2 months old.. just a little guy :)

Edit... I got my guy at that size and 2 1/2 months later he looks like this!

2-2.5 months seems about right. The guy at the pet store said he was about 6 weeks when I bought him (which was about 3 weeks ago), but he didn't seem too sure. I can only hope that my little guy grows up to look something like Frankie. He looks awesome!! So he was about the size of my chameleon and grew to be that big in 2.5 months? That is crazy!

Gently spraying their eyes can also hydrate them as well as getting water into their nostrils if all else fails.

I have never heard of this..their eyes? How does that hydrate them? Also I don't think it is a good idea to be spraying water in their nostrils either. Where did you get this information from?

Yeah, pet stores always seem uncertain  but I agree, it looks like the info they gave you on his age was right. They grow fast for sure, so keep taking the pics :)

i had this problem with a previous chameleon i ended up spraying directly into his mouth, last resort
Definitely a last resort, it is very easy to spray too much in and choke a Cham due to the way they swallow water.

A misting is one thing, and they need a bit of water to do their eye maintenance. I don't see how getting water into the nostrils helps, why would you do that?

Lastly, my chams hated misting too, but they got used to it quicker when I switched to a pressure pump mister like the bigger one in this picture - http://www.underworldproducts.co.uk/index.php/reptile/komodo-accessories/komodo-spray-bottles

I would not recommend either of these. They can inhale water rather easily placing It in there lungs or causing choking. U are no where near that critical to attempt somthing so risky that shoukd be done by someone with experience in such an area.
